Today I loved the symbolism of Bairavi and Rudra. In a way they showed the relation of Shakthi and Shiva in a beautiful way I would say.
To any observer it is very clear Bairavi or Shakthi holds the real power. But then she doesnt make Rudra feel she holds the power. She gives him knowledge, she gives him direction but allows him to take the decision, thus making him feel he has the power .
WOW it was superb, simply superb showing how a woman can transform a man if she knows who she is and what she holds.
It also showed where a man will reach if he respects and trusts such a woman. yes Rudra takes decision, but at every step he looks forward to her direction, guidance and blessings.

Yes a woman becomes shakthi when she knows who is Shiva and who is asura. With Shiva she is the enormous creative force her identity merging with his and thus driving the world. And with asura same creative force becomes the destructive force.

No wonder Swami vivekananda told give women the right education then they are capable for deciding for themselves.

Yes a woman who understands who she is and a man who understands the source of his power can transform the world in true sense. harmony of the world is in harmony of Shiv-Shakthi. One incomplete without the other.

Here I think we should look at Bhairavi not in the literal sense or as Shakti but as Guru to Rudra. Man or woman does not matter. She is his guru. My POV.
A woman can be a guru is what is being shown I think.

Shruti very well said. I was expecting this in the show and my gut feeling was Dadi has the capacity & authority to do so. Bhairavi is shown to do this with confidence & utilising Rudra's capacity to bring best out of him. It's a synergy achieved. I felt Dadi should have lived more.
Thanks for quoting Vivekanand ji!!

Bhairavi is Guru for Rudra. At the same time she knows he is Garuda Pramukh. She helps him in following his destiny by preparing him for the same. By asking him what next, she allows his power to work. But stops him from touching Maya by reminding him, they have to find the cure of her condition.
She is a true Guru, who allows her student to grow.
Shivanand would have been very happy seeing Rudra's change. Hope they meet soon.

Yes Shanti she is shown as the Guru and rightly said they are showing a woman can be the guru. But our ancient texts do mention mother is the first teacher. She is the one who instills the right sanskaars to the next generation.
That's why a sage like Vivekananda stressed on the importance of education to woman. If she doesn't have the right knowledge how in the world the next generation is expected to get the right values.
It's is an ode to mother as first teacher as Bhairavi appears as Maimui Rudra's mother.
We all know how woman are still treated secondary citizens and education is denied to many of them. As a result we have more and more men who think they are superior force and keep on doing atrocities to woman and woman continue to believe they are voiceless, have no decision making powers. And other extreme feminism continue to believe they are superior force. Which is also not true. It is just other side of male chavunism. Hence right knowledge becomes very important to bring harmony in your relations.

Awesome write up. Loved it.
In my country, equality among gender is a big thing but then, in every culture, women are still abused...

My dear Shruthi,

This is a very clever parallel, and then again, the names in Mahakumbh are always carefully chosen and significant. Your @blue is neat, and you are clearly trying to fit the MB-Rudra relationship into the Shakti/Bhairavi-Shiva matrix.

I also agree in toto with what you have said about the vital need to educate women and render them capable to being their own people. In any case, no land where women are not respected can thrive, so say our holy books,

Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devataha

though things seem to work out somewhat differently in practice.😡 The way things are, women have to stand up and fight for their rights, no one is going to give it to them on a plate.

As you would have seen from my latest post, my own take on the MB-Rudra equation is somewhat different. I am pasting that section here for anyone who would be interested.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The MB technique: At this point, I would like to offer my take on the MB technique for making Rudra (a) identify the crisis, then (b) decide that it is his responsibility to act to prevent it and finally (c) move on to decisive, effective action.

It was not exactly that she looks to him as the leader when she asks him, time and again, what should be done next. Or even that she tries to make him feel that it is his decision, that he has the power.

It is rather that she is intent on teaching him and pushing him to be one. Whence the question, Kya dikhta hai ?, like Dronacharya with the bird in the tree, and then Ab kya?

The shishya, Rudra, is not to be allowed to relax or backslide, he has to be kept on his toes all the time. Yes, she has quiet pride when he performs as she would have wanted him to with the crowd control, but again there is the Ab kya?

Nor does she let go of the leading reins, the ones with which young children are allowed to take their first baby steps, but with the surety that they will not be allowed to fall. She is always in charge, a watchful presence at his side, making sure that he does not slip back into his old ways and succumb to weak emotionalism. So she halts him in his tracks as he is about to touch Maya, and holds him back with a logical and soothing explanation: it is not enough to keep her barely breathing, she has to be brought fully back to life, and for that, Rudra has to get going with his mission. And then there are the last rites for his dead family members.

So you see, MB is no silent, admiring or even encouraging presence at Rudra's side, rejoicing in his leadership status. She is a guru in every sense of term: educating, inspiring, pushing, guiding and correcting.
