Weary after a long day,Vaishnavi was trudging back home. Humming her favourite song playing on her Ipod, she began to wonder what the coming day would bring. Her birthday. It was a day she had looked forward to since she was small and it still brought about that rush of excitement as she wondered what surprises she would get,whether her friends would throw her a party,bring gifts. All these moments were very special to her, it made her feel very loved and cared for.
Just as she looked around idly, she saw a stray bottle lying on the sidewalk. The bottle had a blue sash on it and on it was written in bold 'Pick me if your name starts with V and ends with an I '. Curiosity got the better of her and she decided that she would see what it was about. When she picked it up, she saw a small chit wedged in it. As she opened it she read:
' I have played the character of one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu. Who am I ? If you want to know more, follow my footsteps ' which indicated that she had to walk ten steps further.
A bemused Vaishnavi wondering what this was all about continued walking, taking small steps. Just then she saw another bottle with a similar looking chit wedged in it. As she looked around, wondering if someone was playing a joke on her, she opened it to read:
' One of the acclaimed jodis of Indian television with another popular tv actress, can you guess who I played ? '
and below was added another location. Determined that she would get to the bottom of this and show the pranksters what they thought of themselves, she marched ahead, nose in the air and a grim look on her face.
When she reached the location, which was a park she knew of really well, she came across a potted plant bent at a wrong angle. As she neared it, she saw a chit, just like the other two with the words:
'You've almost reached the end of your journey but just not quite. Always wanted a dream to come true ? Well, look no further because we've just made that our goal. To follow your dreams, go to the farmhouse next to your school.'
And the note ended. Vaishnavi was overcome with excitement. Affection for her friends coursed through her as she saw the efforts they had put in, for who else would have gone through all this just for her. She decided that whatever surprise they would give her wouldn't matter, little things like these did.
Upon arriving at the farmhouse, all was dark except for a small spotlight. As she approached the source of light, her heart skipped a beat. Time stood still as she looked at the one person who she had always wanted to meet and there he was right in front of her eyes. Was he an apparition, a figment of her imagination ?
Pulse racing, she slowly started to walk in. And suddenly, all the lights came on at once revealing not only him but the entire cast of the one show she absolutely loved ; Gurmeet Choudhary, Kratika Sengar and even the little ones. As her eyes roamed around the room, she saw in a corner of the room, her best friends grinning at her, taking in her shock utterly amused at her reaction.
As Gurmeet came and hugged her and wished her a very happy birthday along with Kratika and everyone else, she realized how blessed she was to have such loving people in the form of her friends around her. She decided that she would know the details of how this exactly happened later but for now, she would just enjoy her day with the people she loved and would always cherish it for this was the birthday when the dream of meeting her idol finally came true.
