Tau ab jab hum forumwaasi fictional begusarai ki sair kar rahe hai, courtesy andTV😛..there was some news on the actual "begusarai" city/ district of bihar too🤓

So just came across this news..m not sure, but I think a TV show was made on this forced marriage, where the groom is kidnapped and forcibly married off to a girl..looks like this is a common thing in begusarai
+++++++++++++++
BEGUSARAI: Instances of forcible marriages were so common in Begusarai district in the eighties that it assumed the form of a social evil then. Known as "pakravah vivah" (forcible marriage) such marriages used to be solemnized against the wishes of grooms and had wrecked many a family.

The outcome of these marriages usually resulted in complete mismatch between a bride and groom and often resulted in backlash by family members of the groom. This was precisely the reason that most of these marriages failed and the practice later was later discouraged.

But even now, incidents of such marriages are reported occasionally in the district. On Thursday, Dhiraj Thakur, a resident of village Makdampur under Mansoorchak police station, met Begusarai SP Manoj Kumar at his 'janata darbar' pleading to evict from his house the girl to whom he was forcibly married to after being abducted last year. Dhiraj alleged that the girl broke open his locked house at his village in February this year and has been staying there ever since with her kin. Dhiraj said the girl's action has left him and his family homeless.

He said his brother had lodged a case of his kidnapping and the police later recovered him. Dhiraj said he had filed a case in the local family court to quash the marriage but in turn got threatening calls from the family members of the girl, forcing he and his family to leave the village.

Its pretty common in Bihar ... i never believed it earlier ... but was shocked when one of my colleague who is from Bihar told me that when he was studying and later working in New Delhi, his parents strictly told him not to come home before they get his marriage fixed 😳

Its common practice here in Bihar.
Watch a film called Antwardwand on this topic. It is brilliant. 👏

And the reason behind this is Dowry. Because families where boys are well qualified ask for huge dowry. So this was a counter to dowry. 🤢
Pretty sad situation i know. 🥱
