What is the easiest way of becoming a bollywood celeb? One just has to be born into a filmy family.
No matter how bad they look, or how overweight they are or whether they have showed any interest in acting before, what they need to do is, to just walk up to their celebrity mom/dad and say- "I want to do films", sometimes they don't even need to do that- someone else (Read likes of Salman Khan or Sanjay Leela Bhansali) can do the job for them.
Then the parent reply would be- "first lose some weight and then go and spend some time with my most reliable director on the sets of his latest film( Read assist them) and then we can plan something". So the kid (they will be kid forever I tell u) will go out running to the gym and get hold of the best gym instructor and dietician of the town and get in shape.đ
Next step is for some firsthand experience, they need to be on the set of the most awaited film of the year by the most renowned director of industry. Basically to have fun with actors, clicking pictures, exchanging tips on make- up, clothes and bodybuilding đ- assisting them.. so much hard work u see.
Then you are ready. đ đYou will be launched among much media frenzy. Bollywood people will go bonkers about how supremely fascinating the promos of your debut film looks like .(They have their own little ones in waiting too đ)
Anddd..you have already made it. Who cares if you will be able to play a long innings or not, or what critiques have said about you. You have long list of endorsement proposals and also movie offers from trusted family friends who are sweet enough to put their hard earned money on you, and don't worry if your first film fizzles in spite of the joint effort by you+ your costars+ your director +producer + parents + industry + media, you have a horde of supporting godfathers in the industry who will continue giving you the second, third, fourth, fifth chances - failure isn't an option u see- being a star is your destiny.đł
But But even after all these if u fail, u always have other options like producing films or getting married to a rich businessman - and no one and simply no one can snatch the "B-town Celebrity" tag from you.
In the past few years we have so many starkids making their way into bollywood, let's keep the ones like Harman Baweja or Uday Chopra away and consider the ones who actually made it and vote for who u feel got the maximum advantage of being from a filmy family.
Among the A- listers, there is only Hrithik Roshan who was launched by his father. He went on to do successful films with other directors and producers too and today is a name to reckon with in the industry. He always relies on his father to produce films for him whenever he finds himself in tough weather.
Likes of Varun Dhwawan and Arjun kapoor were launched by other producers, but they also did big budget commercial films with their father at crucial junctures of their careers. Both of them admitted that they were overweight and it was Salman Khan who instigated them to try their luck in bollywood.
Same with Sonam kapoor - she has spent a good 8 yrs in the industry and yet to give one bonafide hit, she is famous for her very high fashion quotient and has many endorsements in her kitty. Most of her recent films are produced by her sister Rhea kapoor. Sonam kapoor is still very much in the race with film like PRDP opposite Salman Khan- which surely going to elevate her status in box office, whereas someone like Asin who has given many hits both in btown and down south has already faded away.
You have actors like Abhisekh Bacchan and Sonakshi Sinha whose parents did not have direct influence on their career but go deep inside and you will find out the truth. Especially Abhisekh Bacchan, the guy gave some 17 flops at a row before his career took off. Veteran actor Om Puri has once said that, had Abhisekh been someone else's son, he would have been out of the film industry long ago. I heard a story about how AB senior used to help Abhisekh secretly in getting films. Once he was offered a small role in a film which starred Aishwaria Rai and Viveik Oberoy (don't remember its name), he was not willing to do it- after much pleading from the producers, he agreed with one condition and the condition was that the producer had to cast Abhi in one of his next films as a solo lead and that was how Abhi landed up doing Run' with that Tere Naam actress (again forget her name). And then Kareena Kapoor- she got the chance of working with the stalwarts in the industry even before the release of her first film.
We also have actresses like Alia Bhat and Shraddha Kapoor with their average looks and acting skill, bagging big projects one after the other whereas someone like Illiena D'Crouze fading away.. So not fare.
