Apara Mehta is tired of acting, she wants to create shows now and is approaching production houses with her concepts

Apara Mehta aka Kuki Kaki of Saat Phere wants to take a break from acting. She is all set to don a new hat. The actress will be playing the role of a creative director in real life now. She has several concepts for serials up her sleeve and has started approaching the production houses too.

After years of acting, Apara feels she should re-invent herself. "I have spent all my life doing acting only. But, there is more to me than just acting. I want to create new concepts. First, I thought I would become a director only to realise that it was not the kind of work I wanted to do. I have several concepts in mind and want to see them take shape," she says.

She adds, "I want to go into production detailing, work as a creative head. Right from developing the concept to the daily screenplay to the characterisation, I just want to see them getting implemented in the way I visualise them. I want shows to be more realistic. For instance, in a serial a character is shown wearing one kind of attire throughout the show, but this is not how things happen in real life. I want to create shows that people can identify with, and also closer-to-life characters."

This creative bug bit Apara after her Gujarati play 'Masti ma marriage, marriage ma masti', became a roaring success. She had written the play with her daughter Khushali. She now wants to explore newer avenues. She already has a concept of two women and their struggles in life.

While exploring off-beat subjects she is careful that they are commercially viable too. She explains, "I don't want to do subjects that have been doing the rounds in television. I want to deviate from the current crop of shows and want to implement newer and more socially relevant ideas."

How have the production houses responded to her ideas, so far? "I have approached production houses with whom I have worked so far. I will go for script-reading sessions with them in the coming weeks," she says.

hmmm.. i think she might leave SP na? since she wants to don the role of a creative head, i doubt she'll have time to act in a daily soap. hopefully apara's concepts don't have too much of melodrama or actors using up dozens of bottles of glycerine in one episode like an ekta soap.😆😆😆
