more than story am glued to the acting of the cast n set design

I am liking Ashoka so far. There is NR but it is not all done so vamps/villains can plot away to glory!
There is a balance and positivity.

The sets are fabulous and actors so good. Sid is the scene stealer.

For accuracy, you need someone like Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi who was committed to the concept and tried to be as realistic as possible. But the present lot of PHs are in this only for the money. :((

However there is a huge difference between the NR here and in JA. NR in JA meant wallowing in negativity and boring and outlandish tracks and reducing the leads to caricatures with nothing to do. Ashoka is such a happening show, full of drama, action, masti, emotions, balanced portrayal of positive and negative characters, great cast and a gripping narrative. Even the music, sets and costumes are notches above that of JA.

If I have to watch NR, I prefer this kind. :)

Radhika, agree totally. NR done so that vamps & villains can go scot free - even if that means turning leads into pathetic fools is just the worst kind.
NR done to show events in a more dramatic way is entirely different.

I agree the sets, costumes are wonderful, esp the sets are fabulous.
I do wish though the characters are kept shades of gray not turned into snow white and charcoal black!

@MaddyO Talking about grey then mention has to be made about Mir Khorasan. He has his selfish motives ridding under his sleeves but he is pretty loyal chieftain for his emperor. He takes me by surprise every single time!

I wonder at what age he became Samrat after Bindusar?

as far as I know, Bindusara died in 272 BC... and then there was lot of fights btw all his sons and others... but finally Ashoka overpowered all of them , and became the king nearly 3 years after his father's death... Ashoka's coronation took place in 269 BC ... he was ard 35 yrs old that time

I m not sure, but it's said, that after knowing ashoka's truth of being Bindusara's son, he was treated very badly , and so even he vowed revenge... he killed all other sons of Bindusara after fighting with them, and captured Sushin who was crowned prince, and became king himself... but it's also said, that many noble's and ministers were against Sushim due to his bad behavior and supported Ashoka and wanted him to be the king... and they helped him in his revolt... still i m not fully sure of the facts yet...

Dear friends, just a hello to catch up. The NR is casting its shadow upon this serial too and the story is being draaagged now.

However, I agree with the above sentiments that Ashoka's story is still a positive one. The bad guys are afraid and mostly unsuccessful. (FWIW I think our old serial JA has improved a little from the bottom it was languishing in. However, the harm done to the story and its characters remains etched there forever.)
