Finally he woke her up as the cops wanted to take her statement.
She didn't tell them anything. She said that she didn't know those people at all, nor does she know why they abducted her.
Soon, cops stopped pestering her further and took her statement for further investigation.
Randhir stood there still.
To say that he was shocked would be an understatement. He felt a heavy storm of emotions twirling within him. His common sense failed to understand the reason why Sanyukta was hiding the truth from everyone. The burning lava of the volcanic questions was incessantly erupting in his brain. He wanted answers to several questions.
Who kidnapped Sanyukta?
How come the kidnappers know her?
What do they want from her?
Why is Sanyukta shielding them?
Who is Sanyukta in real?
Will the kidnappers attack her again?
What if something serious happened to her had he not reached on time?
Why is Sanyukta not fighting back against those who attacked her brutally?
..
..
..
A never-ending list of unanswered questions..!!
But his heart knew that his Sanyukta was innocent. He knew that she was playing with fire, a one-sided battle in which she was walking on a thin rope which could break anytime, making her lose her balance.
Whatever may come, he has to be there by her side to protect her from all the evil in the universe. And for that, he needed to win her confidence, make her believe that she's not alone. He's there with her as her silhouette; ready to walk along with her in all her hardships.
"Sanyukta..", he mouthed sternly looking at her.
Sanyukta bent her lashes down having anticipated what was coming towards her.
"Look at me Sanyukta..", he muttered.
She didn't have enough courage to look at him in the eye. She knew she won't be able to face the prickly feeling of guilt if she faced him.
"Sanyukta, look at me.", he gently lifted her chin making her face him and cupped her face.
As soon as she lifted her eyelashes, the salty liquid started dwelling in her orbs. She couldn't contain it in her anymore and broke down.
Randhir couldn't bear to see her in such a miserable condition. He covered her in the cocoon of his heavenly embrace caressing her hair; her sobs hibernated near his heart. Soon, his shirt absorbed all her tears and she hiccupped. Randhir pulled her away from his shelter and wiped her tear-stained face lovingly.
"Sanyukta, stop crying baby. I won't pester you to tell me anything. Relax, okay.
If you don't want to discuss about it, I promise I won't bring this topic ever. Just remember, whenever you need someone, I'll be there for you. ALWAYS..!!
You can confide in me if you wish to.
Take your time.", he cupped her fluffy cheeks and placed a moist kiss on her forehead.
Sanyukta kept looking at him; her eyes wide open in astonishment, reflecting oceans of purity and innocence in them. She touched his cheek with her palm and caressed it cutely, making herself believe that his newfound angel is not a mirage but existed in real.
Her soft palms roamed all over his face, amazed, in gratitude, in respect, in affection.
Randhir took her palms gently in his and planted kisses on both her palms.
Sanyukta smiled as this new feeling of warmth and affection, overwhelmed her to the core and sent shivers through her spine.
"Enough of tears for now. I know you're a strong girl, Sanyukta. But even The Great Khali' needs food to survive. You haven't had anything for a while now. Let's fetch you some food. So what would you like to have, your majesty?", he bowed down in front of her.
She stared at him in disbelief and both of them broke into pearls of laughter. Randhir was awed by the way she laughed whole-heartedly. The sweet chimings of her voice were finally back. It felt like a decade since he last found her so carefree. He kept admiring his innocent doll.
As soon as she caught him staring at her with such loving gaze, her giggles came to an abrupt end. She blushed profusely, unable to handle his intimidating gaze.
"Umm.. A burger or a sandwich will do for me.", she smiled.
"Well, not really, your majesty. As suggested by your doctor, I'd rather get you some porridge.", he suggested.
"Why? It tastes yukkk. I don't want to eat porridge.", she twisted her lips in a cute pout. He chuckled.
"You've got no choice mademoiselle.", saying he disappeared.
He reappeared in a few minutes, "Porridge for the mademoiselle.", he bowed down again offering her a small tray.
She took it from his hand highly displeased.
"I can't eat this Randhir. Please", she begged.
He took the tray back from her hand and settled beside her. He took some porridge in a spoon and placed it near her lips, "Sanyukta, if you want to get discharged soon, then have it. Okay, fine. Have it for my sake, please.", he pouted imitating her previous actions.
Sanyukta unwillingly finished the bowl of tasteless porridge as Randhir kept on feeding her.
""See, it's done. Good girl!", he pulled her cheek.
"Ouch! Don't do that.", she twisted her brows rubbing her cheeks to which Randhir chuckled and pulled her cheeks again.
"RANDHIIIRRR...", she frowns and slams his arms.
He cups her cheeks instantly and whispers lightly in his husky tone, "Did it hurt?"
Sanyukta went in a daze and nodded slightly, her breath hitched. His husky baritone along with such close proximity caused butterflies deep down her belly.
He lightly pecked both her cheeks and caressed the rising hue and whispered in her ear, "Does it now?"
She shook her head in a NO like an innocent child still under his effect. He pecked her forehead and took her in his embrace.
Both felt bliss, cocooned in each other's arms.
With their newfound friendship and happiness, both of them took a new turn in their lives together as they left for FITE.
Some days passed in peace. FITE was back to normal, having recovered from that horrible' night. The loss of an important person, Jignesh Patil, still continued to pain their hearts.
"Sanyukta, you had your dinner?", Randhir inquired as he took the empty chair beside her and Kaustuki in the canteen.
"Umm.. Actually.. I was not feeling like having dinner. I had too much for lunch.", she said with a pout.
"Sanyukta, this is how you are taking care of yourself? You promised me once we are back getting you discharged, you'll take care of yourself. You need to have proper diet.", he scolded her.
"But Randhir, I'm seriously full right now. If you'll force me to eat, I promise to fill your shirt with the foul smell of my puke.", she threatened while he struggled to hide a tiny smile forming on his lips.
"Fine Sanyukta...", he sighed. "Let's get you and Kaustuki to hostel. It's late already."
"You people leave. I'll be there in sometime.", Kaustuki interrupted.
"As you say, Kaustuki.", he smiled at her.
"Let's go Sanyukta.", he turned towards her.
While they marched towards Girls' Hostel hands in hands donning a wide smile on their lips, Sanyukta suddenly trembled against the edge of a bench lying in the corridor, twisting her ankle.
"Aaahhh...", she cried.
Radhir made her sit on the bench. "Oh God Sanyukta! You're hell bent on harming yourself, no? See, you have twisted your ankle so badly.", he panicked holding her ankle over his knee and examining it thoroughly.
"It's ok Randhir. I'll apply some ointment and it'll be just fine by morning.", she tried to calm him down.
"Shut up, okay? How can you be so careless.", he yelled, a V' forming on the thin bridge between his eyes as he frowned.
"Even medical room is closed today due to renovation. No ways, I can't let walk in this condition."
"Come, let's get you to your room", he picked the tiny figure in his arms and carried her to her dorm like a newlywed bride.
She kept on adoring him all through the way, her gaze intact on his panic-stricken face until he bolted the door behind him and laid her on her bed. He applied pain reliever on her ankle and massaged carefully.
He washed his hands and came to bid Good Night' to Sanyukta when he found a tear drop trickling down her orbs. He immediately rushed to her and cupped her face, "Why are you crying?"
"Sanyukta, what happened? Is it paining? Don't worry! It'll get better in sometime. Don't cry.", he held her arms gently.
"How can I get so lucky, Randhir?...
How can I get lucky enough to have you in my life?", she confessed.
He looked at her stunned. He held her face in his palms and sucked the tiny tear drop in his lips. He bent a little towards her soft quivering lips not before looking in her eyes for approval.
As they were about to take another step in their friendship, which was probably more than that, the devil was all set to knock their doors.
"You need to leave for Mount Abu tomorrow itself, Sanyukta.
Take Parth along. He'll reach near the backyard tomorrow morning.
Save yourself..!!
Mr. X", buzzed Sanyukta's phone from somewhere in her bag.
