*THE RAMSAY BROTHERS*
The Ramsay Brothers (Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay) were the first ones to introduced the gory horror genre. Their first horror flick titled "Do Gaaz Zameen Ke Neech" hit the big screens in 1972 and there was no looking back after this. Hits, after hits of horror films, the Ramsays have earned a name for them in the indusrty. Their biggest box office grosses till date is called "Purana Mandir" which featured one of Indian Cinema's most popular "bhoot" ever named "SAAMRI". The Ramsays always made low budget horror films with not so many known faces in the industry. They usually casted struggling actors and actors from the theater for their films. Although the Ramsays were a huge hit for horror in India, too bad they didn't make it into the A grade films category, they were known as making B grade films since they were low budget. Recently their 1986's hit flick VEERANA has now ended up in Hollywood's horror film archieves as one of the world's most original story and origianl script ever used in Horror film industry. The Ramsays always showed much nudity and sex as the censor would allow them to use in order to make the film click with the audience apart from the horror feel. Later, they moved from the big screen to the small screen with their evergreen horror show hit known as THE ZEE HORROR SHOW which ran on air for more then nine years (WAAY MORE POPULAR THEN KYUNKI SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI)
Not just Tulsi & Shyam Ramsay made these films, the other five brothers always heleped them. Keshu Ramsay mostly did some producing, and sound. Gangu Ramsay always handled the camera and sometimes produced couple of films. Kiran Ramsay was also in the Sound department. Their father, F.U. Ramsay always wanted his sons to join the films and wanted each of them to work in different departments behind the cameras.
