Not my parents. They treat me, my married sister and my both the brothers equal but my Dadi(she is no more) use to give more importance to my Brothers. My Parents have never said no to me for anything nor to my sister.

I doesnt live in india
Here boys and girls both go to their own home which they make on themself
NO
In my family it can be that one is more loved because he is younger than others, but others also had their time and yest 1st born of generation were very much loved
But that has nothing to do with boys and girls

I think in my grandparents generation they did. I hear it in the stories my parents tell us. But my parents or anyone else in my generation in the family were always treated the same whether you were a boy or a girl. I think most families in India are like this now in urban/modern areas. Which is why what they are showing in YHM is doubly ridiculous.

My parents no. They have three daughters and have let us experience life. And I am thankful for that. I have friends with brothers and they are not aloud to do a lot of stuff that I can. However my dad side of the family is not like that. My grandma(dad's mom) is like GKC crap type of person. Thats why I always get offended when I see stuff like that because I have seen my mom suffer because she had daughters. I expect tv mediums to show change so we come out this a son is heir crap. I also find it utter nonsense because when the parents need their children the most 90% of the situations I have seen the daughters are there for their parents. I see an example in my family. My aunt(mami) 's mother has cancer. Her son is nowhere around to help and my aunt has take her in her own care. This woman has five children from the ages of 18-3. She also has a full time job and other responsibilities. So to the people who are like the CKG person, your daughters are superwomen so appreciate them.

Not in my generation but my mil definately has the GkC thing going on - she never fails to mention that she has produced 3 sons!
My FIL is the type who will sit at the dining table and wait for someone to serve him his food! Very regressive for NRIs
