Maya, from the beginning has been an illusion to us and also to herself, and she still continues to be. Her character is still not clear. Initially when she went to Kashi and also later in Allahabad she was shown strong, independent. But once the Veshes showed their true colours, she has been shown the exact opposite. Except for 1 or 2 times where she spoke back to Balivesh, she's just become the bechari abla naari.

So far we have seen all characters playing an important role in the MK. Some knowing the facts and focused, some still in denial, some not yet aware. Yet they all are making an impact. But yeh Maya kya hai, sirf ek Maya hai ya kuch aur?

Maya seems like the most important and wanted by all parties in the MK, yet right now she is the weakest. She is easily swayed by sweet talk because as was discussed long ago, she likes to live in her own delusional world. First it was her family the Veshes, but that truth came out. Now it's Daadi who has got to her (Daadi's intentions are not like the Veshes' but are still selfish I think).

Unfortunately the actor is also not helping. A single point expression for very emotion. Romance is like hanging out with a male friend. Seva is being done like a household chore. Given the sad story of her life, I haven't felt sorry for her. I was thankful that the beautiful letter she wrote to Rudra was not told by her in person. Even though we have seen very little of Tapadiya Mai you really could feel for what she has gone through. Same with Ganga. Even Charles and Punnu have grown on us.

If Maya has a very important role in the show, I hope going forward the actor is able to do justice.

Well said Aparna. Even Katherine as the evil Garuda is excellent, her expressions, her body language, the trained way in which she fights all make it seem so convincing.
But Maya - inspite of getting a well written role with some excellent dialogues, has remained the character with the least impact.

As you rightly pointed out, her expressions are the same, whether she is doing seva or romancing Rudra.

The problem also lies in the fact that all the rest of the cast is excellent and perfectly suited to their roles.

Kash iss Maya main BHI wohi dum hota

As you said her story too is very touching and poignant, if she had been able to bring that to the screen, we would have been able to empathize with Maya and relate to her.

I am with Happy ji on Maya.

If Maya is the female protagonist, she would have been written better. I think writers do not think so. So far, she has been described as a girl who Rudra fell in love with. And has some karmic connection. We tend to look for a strong personality in a character like female lead and she doesn't have one. She has been shown as a pushover. Until this 'vrat'.

Everyone else is so emphatic in their approach and has a mind of their own while she comes out as weak. Even if this is intentional and important to the story, it does paint a different picture for us. We saw Charles' story and we will definitely see Thappadiya mai's but Maya's? Even Katherine is talked about a lot.

And what kind of scenes are those in the Ashram. Fixing shawls, giving juice, patting back and doing these repeatedly.

Unless there is something better in store for her character in future.

Maya means illusion and I believe the script has to deliver that illusion to the viewer as well as anyone concerned with MK the same feeling. I feel the character is written like that to show her as a pushover.
Timing of illusion breaking is important because that will be the turning point of story. Anybody who has watched MB know that the turning point of Kuruskethra war was 14th day when God plays with Sun to create the illusion of sunset to bring the enemy out in the open.
The moment sun is shown and Arjun aiming the Pasupathastra at Jayadratha is the most beautiful moment for me in MB. The point which shows there is a force above all plans and in front of his plans our plans don't carry much weight.
So as far as I am concerned Maya the illusion wont change till the enemy on their own have opened up their defense in the hope that it is going to be victory for them by this action.
