*Kratika Sengar who will be seen in Service Wali Bahu, talks about the show, the kind of roles she likes playing and why she will never share the screen with husband Nikitin Dheer.*
The popular telly bahu' is back. Kratika Sengar, who took a break after Punar Vivah went off air in 2013, will be seen playing the lead protagonist in Zee TV's Service Wali Bahu which goes on air today (Feb 23).
Ask her how different will be her new show from all the saas-bahu drama on TV, and she says, "Firstly, it doesn't fall under the saas-bahu genre because it's not about kitchen politics. It's about a section of the society who have stopped taking dowry directly but they want salaried working girls as daughters-in-law. We are not making a generalised sweeping statement but we are showing the mindset of certain people. It's a socio-drama with a strong subject and I am sure people will like it," she says.
Kratika has mostly portrayed strong characters including her roles in Jhansi Ki Rani and Punar Vivah. She says that there is no denying that she prefers shows where the woman is the central character and everything revolves around her. "My role in Service Wali Bahu is very strong. Since I am a strong person, I could easily relate to this role and essay the character well," she adds.
The actress is all praises for her co-star Abhishek Rawat. "I was very happy to know that he was part of the show because he is a very fine actor. I have watched his previous show " Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. It's always nice to work with good actors as you get to learn from them."
On the personal front, Kratika tied the knot last year with actor Nikitin Dheer, the popular baddie of Chennai Express. The actress's take on her married life is interesting. She says, "I am enjoying my married life. It feels like I am in a live-in relationship with parents around."
So will we ever see the couple on screen either in films, TV or reality shows? "No. We are not very public about our relationship, so we won't be able to show our romance or chemistry on reality shows. We are not a conventional actor couple. In fact, I never wanted to marry an actor but ended up marrying one (laughs)," she adds.
