It seems that you have taken a small hiatus from Kkusum. Yes, as of now, I am not working for the serial. I took up that role in the first place because I feel a negative character is always interesting to play and especially this one was extremely stylistic. I was tired of playing the good bahu in almost every second serial. But, then my character did not have an interesting track any longer. Did you talk it out with Balaji Telefilms about your differences? Yes and I have been told that now, my character is going to get an interesting twist in the tale. Ekta has promised me that and if she tells me something, I take her word for it unquestioningly. I completely trust Ekta. What would you do if she tried to impose restrictions in terms of your interaction with the press? As far as I am concerned, she has not told me anything like that. But, I will obviously not comply even if she suggests something of that sort. What is the next thing coming up in your career? At this point of time, I don't think that I want to take up anything less than a lead role. You were pursuing law as a student. Yes, I was. But then, I got bored of it. So, I called it quits. I get bored of things very easily. But, you haven't got bored of acting as yet? No, it is becoming uninteresting to me now. There is nothing new that one can do with acting. Anything specific that you are looking forward to? I would love to do comedy but nobody seems to be offering it to me. Everybody has seen me either crying or making people cry, I don't blame them if they can't imagine me in anything else. Your are a very reserved person. Yes and unfortunately, people mistake it for rudeness. Besides, I don't comment on my personal life. I think that whatever has been written about me is gossip. I don't even have a love life and people write about my marriage. Your work doesn't leave you with much time for yourself. I agree but whatever time I have left over I see to it that I spend it with my family. I do nothing else besides that. We are five sisters and one brother. And since I am the youngest, they all pamper me a lot. We still go to Juhu beach and play kho kho. They laugh at me when people come to me asking for autographs and embarrass the hell out of me. Your passion other than acting? I am a little more than a bathroom singer and a little less than a professional singer. I love singing and that is why I plan to take professional training in classical vocal singing. You have worked in a Marathi film with Nana Patekar called Pak Pak Pakak. What was that like? It is a big hit in Maharashtra. And it was a very challenging role to play. I don't know a word of Marathi otherwise but I learnt Marathi only for the film. It was an enriching experience. |
