South Africa love to bat first, Ireland love to chase. My first strategy against South Africa would be: bat first, put the runs on board, for South Africa have chased successfully targets over 270 only one out of the last nine times. It is not easy to put those runs on the board because it has taken teams four years to post nine targets of over 270 against South Africa. So interesting if Ireland will look to change their strategy should they win the toss. One hour to go to the toss

Ireland has a chance to win if they bat first and get around 280 on the board. Once they get South Africa under pressure and pick up a few early wickets (mainly Amla and de Villiers), an upset might be likely.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat. Ireland didn't have to make the counter intuitive decision - South Africa made it for them.
