Sania of Zee's Tumhari Disha will audition for Sony's talent-hunt

She wasn't very popular with her audiences as the plotting, prank-pulling Sania on Zee TV's Tumhari Disha. Now Dimple Ghosh attempts to win the audience over as she prepares to audition for Indian Idol 2.
"I always wanted to be a singer. I also learned classical singing for a few years when I was young. In fact, I came to Mumbai a decade ago to become a singer. But people around suggested that I take up acting. They said it would make me popular, and would help me cut an album," Dimple says.
"Till date I have done four feature films (including Halo, where she played Benaf's elder sister), and almost 30 serials. Acting kept me so busy that singing took a back seat. But now I have decided to pay some attention towards my first passion," she continues.
So why did she wait for Indian Idol 2 to happen or what kept her from taking part in Fame Gurukul or Challenge 2005? "Let me be honest. I had a strong ego. I did not want to stand in endless queues and yet be patient before the judges. It was difficult for me to agree to go through the various rounds of auditions, given that I am a celebrity now. I did not like the idea of being treated at par with newcomers. In fact, I had walked in to audition for Indian Idol but then I got apprehensive about how people would react if I lost the competition. My ego made me stay away from a platform as big as Indian Idol," she says.
"But after watching the show, I realised that it had a good format. My family told me that I was a fool for not having given it a chance. And frankly, they have been coaxing me to take part since the days of Channel V's Pop Stars. Now I've made up my mind. I will keep my ego aside and give it my best shot. I liked the format of the show and am pretty confident about taking part in it," she says firmly.
Talking about success and failure she shares, "Even if I don't get voted, I will have the benefit of being noticed by the industry people. I want just one opportunity to perform as a singer before the judges. I know I have a good voice. I am a good performer."
