Why does Yuvraj have a soft spot for Soumya?

This question has been on my mind for quite a while now.

Despite Soumya's antics and scheming, Yuvraj has a certain tenderness and gentleness in his dealings with her, which disturbs me.

I think this has to do with his initial perception of her before marriage- the dream girl he was totally smitten with. 🥱 Plus, Yuvraj seems to think that Soumya is a good person, because of another positive quality she as i.e. her beauty. This is called the Halo Effect, when people attribute numerous positive qualities to a person, because of one positive quality. I have read about scientific experiments which talk about how beautiful people are also often judged by the participant as honest, kind and good, despite nothing but their outer appearance to go by. 😲😲

I think this is what Yuvraj did and he decided that she was a good person. Then, he discovered her scheming and become curt and short with her. However, now that he has been fooled by her AGAIN, the gentleness has again come back. 😡

I think he somehow still wants to see her as a good person and his initial feelings for her make him want to believe the best about her. 🥱 With Suhani, he is sometimes very callous, because she makes him feel out of control of his emotions. He has always been rough with Suhani since the beginning, and his worst side also comes out in front of her. He seems to lose all his filters and forgets that anger should also have a boundary, whereas he is never out of control with Soumya. He is always calm and collected. 😲😲

Maybe it's because Suhani makes him feel things which Somu never has, but I want him to cultivate tenderness for Suhani too. By tenderness, I mean not just when she is injured but in his regular interactions with her. He should quit snapping at her and being mean to her just because his mood is not upbeat. I want him to be polite and considerate of Suhani most of the time.

What say?

I don't have some intricate psycho analysis to offer regarding his thoughts & actions but I think he now thinks of her as his wife's very volatile, basket/headcase of a friend...who's suicidal and lives in his house and has become a liability for everyone including him and he needs to be careful with her because she's a loose canon. LOL. I think he can be equally rough with her too and he has said some pretty scathing things to her as well like how he would have personally thrown her out if he could have and that she's selfish and needs to get lost. This picnic/swamp stuff was done to get rid of all his negative feelings about her otherwise he threw a shawl at her as if he was throwing a baby's dirty diaper at her face of pretty much showing her the middle finger. The CVs wanted to take a different route and get rid of his brains and gave them to Suhani now...so he's showing extra concern and only happens to be there when Soumya is acting like her needy, innocent self...

I think he has shown Suhani so many sides of him which Soumya has no idea even exist...including the gentle and tender one too...and yes he does hurl his anger at her but some of that is due to his thinking that she's his wife so he can be angry with her...perhaps when he loses her this thinking will be done for...but he shows her a lot of himself and he can be very concerned &protective when the CVs let him...he can be playful too...I just think right now the writers are being careless with their characterization of him.

Yeah, he was scathing with Soumya but never showed his peak anger which he regularly shows Suhani. I don't like the fact that he does it because he thinks she is his wife because I don't like the idea of people mistreating their loved ones. He needs to become more consistent in his feelings and actions towards Suhani. It can't be anger one day and tenderness the next. That just makes him seem like he's blowing hot and cold. 🤔 I have never seen Yuvraj as angry as he was during the medicine drama and also during the dupatta scene with Somu. He handles her with kid gloves, but it's the reason behind it which bothers me. I wish it were fully the 'basket case BFF' reason you mentioned, but I also think it comes from seeing her as the beautiful, good girl. I don't like the second part of it.

Also, I wonder why the CVs don't show Yuvraj being extremely protective of and losing his shit over Suhani. GRR. 😡😡

Maybe we would have been luckier with Yuvraj's characterization if this was an Ekta show because somehow Ekta manages to make her assholes turn into angels once they fall in love...these writers are so unpredictable and are not showing the scenes we expect and the ones which seem so logical. Today and the scene where he carried Suhani, he was quick to act and come to her aid...and I don't think he finds Snaky good or beautiful anymore, Apu.

@bold- 😆😆. Bang on, Mehwu. I think these writers need to sit in EK's classroom, lol. I think the CVs need to step it up with his characterisation and make all viewers feel his love for Suhani. 😳 What say? As you said, scenes which seem logical don't happen.

I agree with you that he doesn't feel attracted to her beauty anymore, but he thinks of her as a mislead damsel in distress. 🥱 We know his weakness for such damsels, hehe.

I dont know ... i think both of you have a point... Maybe Yuvraj has a soft spot for sumo wrestler ( am sorry , i cant even take her name anymore, im disgusted by her character) coz of his earlier feelings plus her current delusional state. Maybe he feels a little sorry for her too, considering that her life is in doldrums right now... But i guess, he doesnt realize he is just feeding her delusion and hurting his wife...

PS : I'm sure Sonarikafan would insist that its because he still has residual / unresolved feelings for Sumo wrestler...😊

And you are right Apu... his AYM is limited to Suhani only... inspite of all of Sumos shenanigans, he has never yelled at / treated her like he treats Suhani at times. I don't know sometimes, its almost as if he has taken Suhani for granted... She is so sweet and understanding... sab hassi mein uda degi, dil par nahi legi... IF she is like that, he should'nt take that quality of hers for granted and take undue advantage of her nature, he should thank his lucky stars that he has got a wife who is sooo forgiving and chilled out !!!

He has to treat Suhani with some consistency... ye blow hot blow cold toh nahi chalega😭

Finally, guys... at the end of the day ... this is YUVRAJ, the crown prince of confusion... jab Suhani hi iske intentions/ moods/ thoughts ko read nahi kar pati, how can we do it???😃

@bold- Yes, I kind of feel like he is relieved Suhani is like this so he can not defend her and have his 'mental peace' lol. 😆😆 As you said, he shouldn't take advantage of it and actually treat her better because he knows she's such a sweetheart. 😳 I have never seen him lose control at other people the way he did with SUhani during the medicine drama or even the dupatta sequence. He also holds on to his anger with Suhani and doesn't give it up easily. 😲
