Some of the lead characters on TV are so popular that they end up being mobbed by fans at most places. We ask some of them about their experiences when they are not playing the character but fans still relate to them in their on-screen avatar.
Ronit Roy
Usually in Mumbai mobbing isn't prominent, except if it's a mall. But wherever people meet me they throw the same kind of questions, all relating to my serial. And of course when they see me dressed casually in a denim and tee, they remark that I look younger in flesh than on screen! In smaller towns things can get embarrassing. At times people come forward and touch my feet thinking I am Mihir of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabi Bahu Thi.
Prachi Desai
Sometimes it feels very nice that my on-screen name is so famous. I remember when I was in Surat a 3-yr-old baby called me Bani; I was amazed to see that even a small kid knew me. But at times, it can get very irritating too. When I and my friends go for shopping, people often invade my privacy.
Juhi Parmar
Every coin has two sides. It's obviously good that your character is recognized by the public. I'm enjoying my stardom but sometimes it's very scary too. There are cheap people whose intensions we never know. I generally avoid visiting such places.
Sharad Kelkar
When I and Keerti go out together, people do recognize us and give us compliment saying that as a couple we are very good on-screen. Many refer to be as Nahar which is a sure sign that my character is liked by people. But it irritates me when people ask for autographs on our currency, which is very bad since it's a national pride.
Rajeev Khandelwal
Fans (read girls) usually ask me only about my shows and Aamna Shariff! My best experience has been in Ahmedabad. It was my first commercial Dandiya amongst a crowd of nine thousand people. Cops were called in and they had little choice but to get tough with the crowd.
Manav Vij
Recently when I went to Pune to visit my nephew, I was mobbed by ladies who complimented me on my new looks. Even the small kids referred to me as Joydeep. It felt really nice.
