Nana Patekar keen to direct Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone's wish to break away from her image of a commercial heroine may just materialise if her film with veteran actor Nana Patekar comes through.

Buzz is that Dippy met Nana for a detailed narration of a film which in all probability will be produced and directed by him. While the creative team had pitched Aditi Rao Hydari's name too for the same role, Nana apparently is very keen on having Dippy on board.

Says a source from the production unit, "They did meet last month and Deepika was given a narration by Nana. But there were a few doubts that she had regarding the script. We're supposed to meet her once again before sealing the deal. Hope things go as planned.

Deepika has wanted to break away from the commercial mould and since this is a woman-centric film, she has a lot of scope to do that."
