Hello guys!
I've been an avid watcher of Everest right from the first episode. So, here are my two cents on the show.

Highs
1. The visuals
Love them, love them, love them! Absolutely breathtaking, beautiful shots!
2. The soundtrack
To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with the promos. But I decided to give it a shot because of A. R. Rahman's soundtrack.
3. The concept
On watching the first few episodes, I loved the concept. Plus the tagline of #what'syoureverest just appealed to me more and more. It was something incredible in the sense that here, each character was well etched out. Even the supporting characters are so likeable (not just background artists for the heck of it)!
4. Championing the girl child
I am a big supporter of this cause. I strongly believe in it. So, I felt this show was a great medium for depicting modern society.
5. Relatable situations
The show has been pretty realistic. (I mean, the whole part of Anjali getting sponsored was a tad bit unreal but it was necessary so I can overlook it) The characters are so relatable. Ego, selfishness, selflessness, insecurity, loyalty- all of these emotions, so well depicted.
6. The girl falls for the good guy
THIS IS HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS!! Girls don't go for the arrogant pigs (in the hope of redeeming them or whatever) Finally, here is a show, that shows two perfectly normal, sane and nice individuals falling in love.
7. Maithili
This girl is a separate point because I absolutely love her character. The chirpy attitude, witty dialogues and dependable personality of Maithili are characteristic of a best friend. Finally, we have a best friend who is not scheming against the main girl, but is instead being a real friend, a stress buster and a great sounding board. Just love this character!

Lows
1. The pace
I find the pace very inconsistent. The show started of on a great note. And it was perfect till they reached the base camp. But on reaching the base camp, the pace started lagging. It became too slow and it annoyed me so much so that I missed four-five episodes. I started watching the show again, now that the expedition has finally begun.
2. Showing Anjali as a a superhuman
The girl was majoring in literature for god's sake! How is she so good at every darned thing?! I find it unrealistic. I would have loved it if they showed her struggle. I mean, at NIM, she probably should have been shown struggling a bit. It's only real, because it's hard to digest. And now taking off for Everest on her own- God. She is definitely not that well trained. Even Arjun, who has summited so many peaks needs a team and madam just took off on her own. Unrealistic. This aspect needs to be toned down a bit.
3. The prologue and it's execution
That first shot of Anjali falling just had me hooked and I wanted to know more about the story. And it's execution today, had me disappointed. I don't know what I expected but it wasn't that. I had my heart in my mouth the whole time and Anjali somehow made it all on her own. The well trained sherpa who died too froze on the ladder and a novice just did it. Okay, I love the spirit and everything but after everything I've seen for the past two months, I wished someone was there to guide her. Again this is an extension of the last point.

I can only think up so much right now, but I'll keep signing in with my views on and off.
Let me know what you guys think! 😊

P.S. on a side note, I've missed a few episodes. So, can someone clarify whether this is only a rescue mission or an expedition too?
Also, please tell me what is happening with Maithili and Vidhaan?

great post!!
If I'm asked to pen down highs and lows I'd have written the same!

grt post!!

Now my answers to ur questions..
yes its a rescue mission for now.. to rescue nassir n others.. anjali was dropped.. but she set alone to prove herself (this seems stupid than daring... agreed)
Maithili-Vidhaan... they bonded over coffee, Maithili says she jogs at a park, inspired from Anjali. she n Vidhaan share similar tastes... vidhaan goes to jog just to meet her.. n almost says he likes/loves her and anjali isnt his type... later they meet for coffee... where vidhaan is annoyed over his fast coming wedding with anjali.. maithili jus says they can only meet after anjali comes home

Thanks so much!

Okay, I totally love the whole Maithili Vidhaan thing. And I'm glad Maithili has a story of her own here. And what a loyal friend man. Love her.
Also, if Akash and Anjali are endgame, I wish it happens before Vidhaan dumps Anjali because it'll only seem like Akash got the second preference.

@TM: Agree with you on all the highs in the show...the stunning cinematography showcasing the majestic Himalayas, ARR's BG music (especially the slow, pensive, melodious track when they are trudging up the mountains!
Love the fresh concept, championing the girl child, believable characters, realistic situations most of the time, girl falling for the good guy instead of the arrogant prick 😆
And Maithili as such a wonderful, true friend and her budding feelings for Vidhaan which shes rejecting for Anjali's sake!
Also agree abt the slow pace at the base camp till they started climbing.

But I dont agree abt Anjali being shown as a superwoman. A literature student can also be proficient in sports, she can be agile and energetic and talented in adventure sports.
In one of the earlier scenes, Anjali chased down a guy who was harassing Maithili, she jumped on a hand cart, catapulted herself over a locked gate and caught the offender, then she beat him up!
That scene kind of set the stage for showing Anjali's physical prowess.

Besides we forget that Anjali's dad was an expert mountaineer and he had climbed many peaks before he got injured in a war. Like children inherit their talent and abilities from their parents, maybe Anjali also inherited her dad's mountaineering skill?

If a son can take after the father, why not the daughter? If a son can follow in his dad's footsteps, why not a daughter? That is the basic concept of this show, isnt it?

Also its not that rare for solo climbers to ascend to Mt Everest. There have been prior examples of solo climbers, according to google searches. Of course those solo climbers were experienced mountaineers who had climbed other peaks before.
But even inexperienced people can climb Mt Everest with the help of paid guides.
Like Arjun had once mentioned, Everest is not that difficult to summit, Kanchenjunga and Nanda Devi are much more dangerous! That is a fact. Hundreds of people have climbed Everest but very few have succeeded in climbing the latter two peaks.

Anjali has a natural talent. Shes going ahead with sheer determination and courage, its foolhardy and extremely dangerous but its her mission and she has set out to do it! Its a karengey ya marengey mission for her. Its that desperation that is helping her succeed where even a sherpa has failed.

In all fictional shows is there is some suspension of disbelief and we have to give some leeway for the main character to have that extra something that makes them special...even if the protagonist is a girl. 😊

So true.. agree with ball your list of Highs and lows...:)
The promos looked bland , and I started watching since the 2nd week, and it took time to grow on me...
I especially liked the NIM training days, and the real locations, being a mountain lover, and the cinematography and music really grew on me...

Then I loved anjali- aakash's bond and the subtle love track! For the first time , a girl falls for a good guy. Also , anjali , who is an Achiever in all sense, is shown to fall for an underdog,- who is low in self-confidence, an underachiever, quite lost and unstable in his career, yet a man of good heart and fun-loving. thats quite refreshing and a modern outlook, atleast for TV , I think.

I am particularly disappointed by the way they showed anjali's turnover... Trekking alone is not possible ,a nd she is shown to cross crevasses with great ease , looked very forced. And , no matter how brave and fit she may be, crossing a crevasse, by merely hanging on to a ladder is stupid! today they showed she managed to move , but is it that easy to crawl to the othr side, when your whole body weight is in your hand ,and ur hanging on to a ladder... That kind of movement is seen in Army camps, where pple do it after rigorous training!

Very nice post. I agree to all the high points. Would like to add some more. Character of Arjun and characterization of Chand. It is after such a long time I am seeing such a complex male character in Indian TV. I mean a real grey character. You either get abusive guys or dumb guys. But grey, guy who admits he is selfish to his ex-girlfriend and wants her to move on, a guy who is afraid Anjali will summit hence don't want her to come along, but at the same time doesn't like her behaving aloof to him. Apologize to her for his mischief, open up his orphan status to her. Wants to be independent at the same time wants to know how it feels to be cared. He is a bundle of contrasts and I simply love his characterization and Sahil is doing a great job portraying Arjun's inner conflicts.
Coming to Chand a really selfless guy obsessed with Mt Everest. A pleasant, peppy, motivating character. Someone who has an inner strength.
Now your low point about Anjali. it is not humanly possible to trek under normal circumstances. But we need to understand it is not normal circumstances and when pushed to wall human mind works in strange fashion. It's Anjali's mind driving her, to do those things that otherwise sound insane. The pain of rejection that is burning inside her is too huge, the understanding her father doesn't wanted her, her achievements are nothing to him. From her POV she considers herself dead unless she can prove a point to her father. You can also call it a suicide mission either prove or die trying to prove but don't go back to life as a failure, as a person who is unwanted in her parent's life. Emotional abuse has been so huge on Anjali to do this thing.
Then adding to what Pallavi said in one of the earlier epi we see Anjali telling a student in NIM she is used to treatment for that worm because she was in Assam when her dad was posted there. So when you grow up in such areas Anjali might have wandered around, would have trekked along side other kids which might add to her physical prowess unlike a child who grew up in metro alone.
My low point is VIdhaan angle and how they are gonna deal with it. Will Anjali take the decision or atleast her mother will stand up against her father is the question. If Vidhaan disagrees, then Jagat agrees then she choose Aakash doesn't seem the right thing.
Then 900 crore for that serpeech and Rungta's obsession with it and his confidence that Arjun can get it without anyone else knowing about it.

As Shruthi mentioned, one of the biggest disappointments in the show is the whole nonsensical story abt the 900 crore sarpech belonging to the King of Samarkand which was hidden near Everest by his queen.
😆
That is the most far fetched thing abt the show, not Anjali's solo climb. As I said, people have climbed solo before but I doubt if anyone has buried a 900 crore ornament near the summit. 😆 Or if people have gone searching for it under the mile high mounds of snow...😆
