"And a step backward, after making a wrong turn, is a step in the right direction." Kurt Vonnegut, Player Piano

Manik and Nandini are teenagers. They've known each other for barely 6 months and we expect them to magically have this unreprimandable and unconditional trust? Hardly.
Nandini does not trust Manik. Not fully.

Let me say that again. Not fully. Not the way he expects her to. She loves him. Yes. She trusts him with her life. I think so. She trusts him to love her. I think so.

But this is another faucet of trust.

As someone who knows Manik so well and loves him so much, it struck me hard when she had to go to Cabir to reassure herself that Manik is not capable of murder.

That was not Nyo playing with her emotions. Nyo didn't generate the mistrust. She only used it. Nandini did the one thing Manik cannot forgive, the one thing Manik considers above all - breaking his trust.

There are no two ways about this. She err'ed. She fell.

But is this the end of the road? HA! It is only the beginning.

These two are not perfect. Their relationship isn't perfect. They are learning and getting to know each other only bit by bit. Manik has huge trust issues, i don't think Nandini even knows the full extent of it. He's complicated and f*ed up in so many ways. (I mean that in the most loving way possible BTW) and she's only just gotten to the tip of the ice berg.

Let them fall and let them grow. It makes their journey that much more engaging.

Great post!
Trust can take months to build but milliseconds to break as shown by Nandini. As soon as she expressed her doubts in Manik's involvement with Soha's murder, the equation between them altered. I agree, they've only know each other for a short period and although they do love each other they still have so much to know/understand about each other.
I know that Nandini does trust Manik but her doubts I think we're justified and it would be unrealistic to show her trusting him so blindly. She's experienced 'Monster Manik' and knows how protective he is for her, so her doubts to some extent were reasonable
No teenage or any sort of relationship is perfect, storms were bound to occur within their relationship just as they both realised that they have fallen for each other. I guess now, it's all about how they are going to overcome this storm and rebuild that trust.

Romance are fun to watch not because of the end or the conclusion but because of the journey.
Neither Rome, nor trust was built in a day.

Lets examine how much Nandini knows Manik, she knows he doesnt get along with his mother courtesy what he shared through one roofied night. Does she really know what Noyonika has done to him?No!

When Noyonika was planning and plotting, so many people refuse to believe she is Manik's real mom because real moms cannot be so evil.So many convinced that she loves Manik, because after she is his mother. Why were we all refusing to believe that Noyonika is Manik's real mother and does not have his best interest at heart? Why? Because we all have an idealistic view of the world and how mothers should be. Who is the most idealistic character on this show? Who likes to believe that everyone has good in them? Nandini... We all love her for her idealism, especially when it works in favour of MaNan but hate her idealism when it works as her weakness. She believed that as Manik's mother Noyonika had his best interests at heart and she made a mistake because Noyonika used Nandini's strength to her advantage and made it a weakness.

Trust can come only when people talk and communicate and share, by not communicating Manik and Nandini allowed themselves to be manipulated by Noyonika.

Relationships are not built and then forgotten about, its a constant evolving process, you make mistakes, you evolve, you grow, be it a 6 months relationship or a 25 year marriage. The Important thing is you learn from these mistakes and you grow and try not to repeat it.

Exactly.
If and when they do get over this, their relationship will be that much more meaningful. She doubted him. He's hurt and it's because of her. But it's not the end of the road. They'll get over it. They're MaNan,

EDITED

See Manik and Nandini are very similar in many ways but ttheir basic difference lie in how they perceive things. Nandini loves him, trusts him but the fact of the matter is that she hardly knows him that fully. She isn't aware of his deep-rooted trust issues and she doesn't know that he would take her "not lying" to be a breach of that fragile trust. Does Manik trust her? Yes on a basic level but trust is like an art which you take years to master...it will grow with time, with their shared experiences and them getting to understand how the other functions.

What Nandini did wasn't wrong. She just said that she didn't know. Nandini cannot lie. That is her inherent nature and that is again one of the reasons that sets her apart from the rest. Yes, she was nervous, the wording seemed a little skewed and it couldn't have come at a more inopportune moment but she wasn't wrong. She did what she felt was right. i agree, she could have added that she wouldn't know coz she was unconscious but the girl is all of 17 standing in a courtroom full of intimidating people and that one moment of uncertainty caused her to slip up.

She erred but doesn't everyone? She is just as human as Manik who made a wrong decision because of his desperation. She didn't do anything criminal and I can't really fault her too for that one moment of doubt coz she was largely kept in the dark about the whole harshad fiasco. Manik never told her of his contingency plans and neither did he clear out her misconceptions of Harshad truly being killed at his hands until she intervened. What was she to think? She knows that he is impulsive and she knows how protective he can get and she also knows what he is capable of. Maybe, in her heart of hearts she is aware that Manik can't murder someone willingly but at the same time those flashbacks remind her of his inability to reign in his rage. That one moment of doubt, of insecurity was played upon by the master manipulator Nyonika herself who made use of her righteousness to shake her belief, to emotionally manipulate her. She was already traumatized and Nyonika caught her in the most vulnerable phase of her life. Can we honestly blame her for that one moment of doubt?

The story of MaNan is such that we won't get contrived make-up, break-up or misunderstanding sequences. They will fight, they will doubt the other, they will stumble through roadblocks and they will encounter issues that will question their trust, their faith in the other. However, knowing them, they will sail through all of it with their head held high and will emerge out of it stronger than ever. It is this journey of discovering the self as an individual and also in context of the other that makes MaNan so intriguing.

Firstly a hug for my Bolty for posting this topic 🤗
And how apt is the title! It perfectly describes the current scenario

No one is to be blamed here..if Nandini faltered then Manik also did not trust her enough to believe what she was shouting afte that, he did not catch Nandini when she stumbled this time!
It was just bad timing and a bad day for them!
They need to work on a lot firstly their communication skills which is not great and for a relation to survive that is a must..Trust will only come once they start to know each other better, spend time with each other (not pushed by circumstances but willingly) and have normal moments..only then can they be ready for their next conflict
Without trust they will always suffer a major set back because it a vital part in any relationship

And I am so looking forward to this track because of the angst and also to see a conflicted Manik torn between head and heart..yes Monster Manik is back but is he the same one? No because this Manik is in love and has boundaries beyond which he wont go..plus whats a love story without drama, conflicts, fights, problems, confusions..it only ensures a long lasting relationship

PS- Monday will be tough for my poor heart though...Babies 😭
But they will come around because rightly said they are MaNan!

bae ❤️

I heart the way you put that. So much. It's true. She fell, but he didn't catch her.

Manik Aliya away so easily because of "trust". But with Nandini there's love too. There isn't some nice straight line where you can fall in and out of love. He can be as impulsive as he wants. He can't push her away. His mind might say that he should stay away, but LEL if he can. Love isn't rational.

BAES be perf. :')
