"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" - This is one of those things that may be easier to preach than practice. Basically Gandhiji wants people to refrain form taking to heart the quote "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot". That is we should rise above such base and petty feelings such as wrecking revenge upon those who have wronged us. But sadly this is easier said than done as it's only human nature to hurt those who hurt us. It is a basic primal instinct that may have helped humans actually survive... Think about it even if a tiny mosquito bites us our first instinct is to swat it, we are certainly not going to be feeling to kindly and peaceable towards the little bloodsucker that is causing us such pain. To sum it up --A wonderful concept but the majority of humanity is, well too human, to follow it in its totality.
