Nokia is offering to replace 46 million BL-5C batteries manufactured by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. Nokia said that in rare cases users might face battery overheating problem.
Nokia said that approximately 100 complaints of overheating are registered globally. However, no injuries or any kind of damages have been reported.
The BL-5C is a widely used battery and is used in a lot of Nokia handsets. Users will find the name 'BL-5C' printed on the front of the battery.
Users can check the Nokia website to know if the battery in their mobile phone is affected.
No other Nokia batteries are facing such problems and are safe to be used in the mobile phones. The BL-5C batteries which are subject to the product advisory were used with the following Nokia models or separately as accessories:
