As for this one, I usually get it out by 5 pm on Sunday, but this weekend, the middle finger of my left hand made too close an acquaintance with a newly sharpened knife. So I am somewhat handicapped, with a bandaged, throbbing finger making it hard to type, but I am trying, and if I cannot manage it at all today, I will post it in 2 halves, the second tomorrow morning.

That's not fair... You know I travel a lot, and most times I read posts on go, in my teeny mobile phone. Which is why you would've noticed sometimes my replies are very brusque sounding and short worded. I usually then avoid commenting on others posts, for fear of sounding rude, as typing out long replies on phone is really hard.

On the phone, even the like button doesn't work much, on roaming so if you don't find a comment or a like, it doesn't mean that I haven't read it, it simply means that I have been on the road.

So, I have read the tale of two tables... Just haven't been ab,e to comment on it till today and now it's time for the next one...

So sorry about your finger, do take care...😊

Truly, there is Something About Gautam 😉 I think he's the most charming person I've never met. 😊

And... I have never followed any actor from show to show like Mary's little lamb either. There is a lot of hard work that goes into his performances and most of the time they hit the mark.

I also feel that his admirers are a niche segment though I don't understand why it should be so.

Maybe MK will get him a wider audience. I notice the main sponsor is Lifebuoy... So perhaps Shyamala, your theory of Mr Babbal upping the aggression to attract young male viewers was indeed spot on.👏

...And yes, I too liked him from Day 1, even when he was setting my teeth on edge with OTT snarling as Rudra when he was introduced.
.
That is the way one likes an apna, and makes excused for him and feels protective towards him. I have had this apnapan with Gautam since the day I saw him standing waist deep in water in his opening shot in Saraswatichandra, for all the world like a young Rishyasaringa, so pure of heart and mind that it would rain in the desert as soon as he set foot in it. Even when he has not been quite able to master a scene here, he has never lost that innocence, that little boy quality...

Interesting point that, about widening the viewer base, well he deserves all the fan following and more, the man sincerely respects his craft and works very hard.

My dear, I was only teasing you! Don't take it so seriously and make me feel guilty! . If only my knee did not rule it out, I would even do an uthak baithak for you, kaan pakadke!!😉

As for my finger I should have been more careful with a very sharp knife. Serve me right.

I enjoyed playing the victim to the hilt dear Shyamala! And wouldn't have you doing any uthak baithak even if your knee was not bothering you😆. But seriously, love your ek end posts and never miss them!

Shyamala ji,

Big virtual hug to you for comparing his Saras with Rishyashringa(same pinch would be disrespextful) So true. I had the same thought too. So you watched Saraswatichandra. We would have loved to have you on the forum especially in the first 150 episodes. Your thoughts and writing would have lit up the forum.

My dear Santhi,

Yes, I went to Saraswatichandra for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's aesthetics, and that haveli, just as I came to Mahakumbh for Utkarsh and Gautam. I stayed for Saras and Kumud, whose romance was truly magical. I quit when Kumud married that hulking chap, I forget his name. I could not stand the sudden descent into crude melodrama, especially with that wily servant and an abusive "husband", and I could not stay on, not even for Saras.

Thank you so much for your warm words, my dear. I think we would all have had a good time there in the SC forum, as we do here. But somehow, I never visited that forum or thought of writing there. I write in very few, only when I feel like it, and perhaps I felt that the gossamer-like beauty of the Saras-Kumud relationship should be enjoyed, not analysed. As a character, Saras was far more complex and interesting than Kumud. As for the rest of the characters, they were mostly pedestrian, especially the wicked stepmother!

I like writing for this one because it is completely hatke. And I do not mind the weak Maya as the tale does not really depend on the strength of her role or her acting. Apart from Rudra, see how many very strong characters they have assembled: Shivanand, Daadi., Maimuyi (still my favourite), Naanu, and even Balivesh and Udiya Baba. Yes, the Polish woman too. It is wonderful, and then there is the mytho aspect. I am a great Tolkien fan, and then of Harry Potter as well, and of Norse mythology. I like the undertones and overtones of a Quest story.
