FAME GURUKUL: MY JUDGEMENT!

Fame Gurukul mela will end soon. I beleive it is not too early or too late to begin assessing the show and its strong and weak points.

FG indeed has been an interesting show. It has showed both the foreground and the background, not only what has been happening on stage but also what was happening back stage. The drama on stage has been as interesting as the events taking place behind the stage. For someone interested in psychology or sociology, the front stage/back stage performances and manouvers have yielded wonderful data!

The peep into the private ( normally hidden) aspects of the show was something interesting and illuminating no doubt, but at the same time the viewer was confronted with the ugly facets of human nature as well - the fights, the jealousies, the conspiracies, the breakdowns.

Onstage performances have been good, bad, and indifferent. Only say about 40% of the performances could be rated as good or very good. Roop, Mona, Shamit, Arijit, Arpita, Rex, Qazi - all contributed good songs and performances.

On the whole, the judges have conducted themselvs well, but not always. For instance, Javed was unduly harsh on Shamit after Kirti's ouster.

Sony will have to have another look at the FOUR shortlilsting criteria, NAMELY, the jury, the faculty, the public and the contestants. The contestant vote is particularly contentitious. There should be limit to the use of public vote. For there is a lot of insensitive and insensible voting on the part of public.

The saddest part of the show has been the exit of Mona, Shamit and Arijit. The way they went out was sad and painful. It was not the stage at which they should have gone.

All in all, I'll miss the show immensely after it is no more...

You are so eloquent!Absolutely love the way you put it. All I can say is -'ditto'.And I agree 200% on the psychology issue.

One thing I would like to add is- I was amazed to see how mature these kids are given their ages- most of them ,esp. Qazi spoke so well extemporaneously-even when they were put on the spot with difficult questions. I am far older than these kids and I feel so handicapped socially- never able to say the right thing at the right time. Hats off to them! I love them all.

Nicely put Sim. You are very eloquent. I guess Shamit, Mona and Arijit all shoould have come in the top four. They were and are the best of the lot. But due to serious flaws in the show itself they are all out and instead we have some peole in the top four who are though talented but not as much as them. But what to do. I hope they take care of all this in the second season. 😃

Well said! Arjit, Shamit, kirti, mona, and Amit, and Anubhabs' exit was indeed sad. You said it....every participant gave their 100%. It's not easy to come in front of audience and sing and perform at the same time. All of the gurukul's students did it and were wonderful.
Yes some of the things they said and did were not clear to us,but they are humans after all. If any one of us were to be there, we might make similiar or may be worse mistakes.
Props to them......all of them..... 👏 👏 👏
