Hello everyone,

It has been brought again and again to our attention that new members are not feeling welcome and feel that if they say something they might be sidelined.

Not only that but recently a major issue was shared publicly when it should have been dealt with in a private manner. This led to numerous violations of the IF COC. We would like to remind all members that if you have a problem you should be reporting it to the DT. That could be myself or one of the GMS (*Shruti*, Aahaana, gk_09). Do not go about posting screenshots of the problem or sharing the problem publicly as it only inflates the matter.

Also please do not bring personal issues onto the forum rather deal with it in private via PM. Refrain from pointing fingers or taking direct or sarcastic digs at other fans & fellow members.

Because of this we would like to implement some new measures to assist new members in feeling welcome to the CID forum and becoming included:

  • If you have a problem with something someone has said, report it and leave it. Do NOT reply to it. Replying to it will bring you under the radar as well. I know there's a time difference, but give me 24 hours from the time of your report to look into the matter, before escalating it.
  • If you don't like what someone has written or created, you are welcome to provide constructive criticism to help them improve, but please don't make comments that would make them feel unwelcome such as "no one's going to like that".
  • All CID forum members please feel free to PM me with any issues. I'm an active CID forum member, but at the same time I'm the viewbie of this forum and always approachable for everyone.

We hope new members and older members of this forum will feel welcome to discuss whatever they want without having to deal with repercussions of any sort.

Regards,

CID DT

Thanks for this Shreya, I just wanted to make sure the rules aren't one-sided.

Currently there's no way of reporting scraps. The person who posts scraps has access to our scrap book even if s/he is blocked. If someone posts anything offensive, the only way to report it is by capturing a screenshot and sending PMs to the DT, which is very tedious.
Agreed the screenshot shouldn't be posted in the open.
But here, we need IF to give a 'report' button on scrap book and also IF needs to ensure that a blocked person cannot access our scrapbook, just as s/he can't send PMs to us. There seems to be a big loophole in IF's functioning.

I agree with what Vis says. Preventing measures should be taken for one user logged in as multiple users as well. I am not sure how long will it take to respond to a spam post, but immediate action is appreciated. Just like other social networking sites, IF should also have the block user facility which will prevent receiving of unwanted PM, scrap etc. We have to follow up and invite the attention of IF team to this suggestions.

@ Vis di that's a great suggestion. I'm sending that over to Vijay bhai directly to look into.

@ Chiinnu: There are new measures in place for spam posts, but some spammers still manage to get by. As soon as anyone sees them from the DT (whether they are DT of that forum or not) that is reported and is removed within 24 hours.

My question:Why is reporting any post one dislikes being encouraged?Does this mean if i don't agree with someone and the post angers me and a group of other people, can i report the post despite it complying with the forum rules?

  • If you don't like what someone has written or created, you are welcome to provide constructive criticism to help them improve, but please don't make comments that would make them feel unwelcome such as "no one's going to like that".

My question:What measures are being taken to avoid people from posting such comments? Can such posts be reported? If yes, what sort of action will be taken? If no,again what action will be take? Or is it just a suggestion?

  • All CID forum members please feel free to PM me with any issues. I'm an active CID forum member, but at the same time I'm the viewbie of this forum and always approachable for everyone.

My question:Can we report any of the viewbie's posts? Who deals with such reports?

We hope new members and older members of this forum will feel welcome to discuss whatever they want without having to deal with repercussions of any sort.

I hope so..

Thanks for replying, just wanted to know, there aren't many issues on our forum so it must be easier, can you post that particular rule from now on under which you close certain threads/posts? I am sure doing this shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know if I should be writing this...but just my thoughts on what Mini says. Shreya may delete it if I am trespassing on her territory.

I have found that some things cannot be shown in the rule book. Suppose there is a thread where there's serious bashing going on, but no one really opposes or reports it, the thread will continue to remain open. (unless we have an active DT who does visit each and every thread)
At the same time, there may be a thread where there's no bashing at all...but just some harmless comments by someone which hurts someone else and a verbal exchange starts off, tempers rise and the thread will have to be closed.
So...it's not really black and white.

@vis di
these loopholes certainly allow bashing of not so popular characters and discourage criticism/expression of anger against anything involving the popular ones.
Only the mods can help handle such issues and it's them who should decide what's allowed and what's wrong, what's criticism/genuine anger and what's rampant bashing to gain attention.
