Aye Khuda! Aye Khuda! Jab Bana Uska Hi Bana ❤️
"I have a twin!" Sanam blurted out, her heart racing so fast and loud that she was afraid she would miss Aahil's reply. But he was silent. Aahil turned and looked at her. She could see his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Really Sanam. Just because I did all this to ask you for the truth, you take me for a fool! But you know what I am a fool. I am the stupidest man on earth. I keep on laying my heart out to you and you keep on hurting me! Despite everything, I had some hope that you had a valid reason for leaving that night. That you have come back for reasons other than to laugh at my heartbreak. I wanted to fix everything and give us another chance! But you know what I was wrong! You never loved me!" He stopped and she could tell that he wanted to take back his words but he choose to stay silent.
"How could you say that Aahil!" Sanam felt a chill through her body. He could have said that he didn't believe her! He could have asked for proof! But to question her love! That was a mistake.
"You know what leave it! Start the car Aahil! Lets go home." She tried to keep her voice down.
He stared at her in a cold manner, "Dont tell me what to do Sanam!"
"Aahil I said lets go!" Aahil started the car without another word and drove back to the Mansion with the fastest speed that he could. But Sanam was not afraid. In fact it gave her the rush and strength to do what she needed. As soon as Aahil parked the car, she stepped out waiting for him to emerge from inside. The second he did, she grabbed his arm and led him inside.
"What is this Sanam?!! Where are you taking me?!! Sanam I am asking you something. Don't test my patience!" Sanam turned around.
"And you dont test mine! You want the truth right! Phir chup chap mere saath aaye!" She turned on her heels and he was forced to follow. Sanam walked ahead, not looking back but she knew he was right behind her. Before her mind could convince her otherwise, she proceeded towards her parents old room. Enough of suffering and hearing harsh words. She would tell him the truth and it was up to him if he wanted to believe it or not! She was not one to suffer quietly. She did much of that already!
Aahil was shocked at Sanam's behavior. It was as if she had reached her breaking point. Aahil followed her, his heart hammering in his chest not knowing what he was going to find. Sanam had a twin? He still could not believe that? But where was she taking him? There was no way the twin could be in his house? Aahil's eyes widened as he saw Sanam reach for a door from behind what was once a painting.
"Sanam wh-- what are you doing?!!" Sanam didn't say anything. She just glared at him and gestured him to open the door. Aahi looked at her as his hands nervously touched the knob and he flung the door open.
What he saw inside jolted him to the point where he had to tighten his grip on the knob for support. A girl who was a split replica of Sanam was sitting on the bed with Rehan? Sanam's twin was in his house?!! Aahil tried to swallow the anxiety inside of him. But his thoughts were getting increasingly muddled. Acknowledging his presence, the two people inside looked up at him. As if sensing his discomfort, his brother approached him and led him inside. The door shut softly behind them.
"Aahil bhai!??" He looked at Aahil and then Sanam.
"I cant! I cant deal with this anymore. He needs to know Rehan."
"But Sanam---?"
"No Rehan, Sanam is right, he needs to know," said the voice from the other end of the room. He looked at the girl. She looked so much like Sanam yet she wasnt Sanam. Aahil closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I am standing right here." He gave a bitter chuckle. He looked at Sanam, his Sanam but she turned her back on him. For some reason, her turning away from him hurt and scared him at the same time. He tried to ignore the lump in his throat and forced himself to look away from Sanam to her twin. From her hesitation he knew there was a lot that was hidden from him and she was the cause of much of it! He saw his brother move forward, trying to step between him and the twin. But she stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. That simple gesture told Aahil all he needed to know about them. So she was the girl who was just like Sanam! The irony of it all!
"I am Seher Ahmed Khan. Yes, Aahil... You may be shocked but its the truth. Sanam has a twin! Neither of us found out until recently. She was not aware of me nor was I aware of her! I didn't even realize that the girl whose life I was all set to destroy was my sister."
She sighed and continued, "Aahil... Sanam did not run away from the nikah, I did!"
The words hit Aahil like a thunderbolt. He tried to steady himself. His fists clenched on their own and he softly growled, "What do you mean?!!"
She had guilt in her eyes but was not cowered by his glare nor perturbed by his tone. "I am the one who left that night Aahil. I am hugely responsible for the mess you both are in! What I have done is totally wrong Aahil . You have every right to be angry. But please hear everything before you react."
Aahil took a deep breath. He wanted to know the entire truth but had no idea how prepared he was to listen. He looked at Sanam, she still didnt turn around to look at him. He stared at her back almost pleading silently that she would look at him. But she didnt.
"Aahil, Sanam and I were seperated at birth. A fire broke out in our house and Badi Ammi had left with Haya and Sanam after she could not find me. I had to grow up on the streets, alone. The fire wiped out the traces of our entire family, our parents, Haya's Ammi and our grandfather, Gaffur Ahmed Siddiqui!"
"Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui?!!" Aahil was shocked. He knew that name but before he could react Seher continued,
"Yes Gaffur Ahmed Siddiqui urf Razia Bi's shahuar. Razia was our step grandmother. She hated our mother Zoya! Thats why she played this game. This house once belonged to her before Nawab Saab bought it. She wanted this, along with all your properties to be transferred in her name. Thats lured me with money to do that and told me to take Sanam's place!"
Aahil swallowed hard not knowing what to say. "And you agreed?" He said looking at her in disbelief. How can one woman do this to another?
"I did Aahil. Growing up on the streets had made me into a thag, a con woman! What else could I have done? I needed to feed myself! For that, I cheated people, to get rich and she was offering me lots of money. But thats where my crimes caught up to me. I was completely wrong in my ways. I fell into her trap! I cheated my own loved ones!"
"Bhai thats how I met her too." Aahil looked at Rehan who suddenly spoke up as if needing to clarify something.
"During the Kohinoor project, I met Sunehri or Seher. At first I was shocked that she looked like Sanam but soon I realized how different they were. I don't know how or when, but I fell in love with her! That time I didn't know what her profession was. I proposed to her but then I found out the truth. I decided to leave her and come back bhai. I had felt it was all over!"
"I felt the same Aahil. I had decided to change for Rehan but when he rejected me, I resigned to what I thought was my fate and decided to go back to my old ways. Thats when Razia found me and offered me the job. At that point, I was so hurt, I was willing to do anything! She was the one who kidnapped Sanam and instructed me to take her place. I had no idea that we were twins but she knew. I was offered two crores to have your property signed in her name. It was one filthy plan! She used us all like pawns to execute it!"
Aahil looked at the couple before him. He was having a really hard time processing what they were saying. He looked at Sanam again. "Sanam..." He said softly. He needed her! He needed her to look at him! He needed her for comfort! He wanted to know what happened to her!
She turned around. But her eyes were filled with tears and a bit of rage. "I never ran away Aahil!"
But this time those words held an entirely different meaning to him! Now he understood why she kept repeating them! Those few words brought back each and every memory from the night of the nikah till now. He had done so much wrong to her! Aahil wondered how much pain she faced while being seperated from him! How much she suffered! He wanted to gather her in his arms and say sorry for each and everything. He wanted to do that now!
Aahil stepped forward but Sanam held up a hand. "There is more you need to know Aahil!"
Aahil found the the distance cold and discomforting. Sanam turned around and looked back out the window. He stood where he was and tried to look at Seher again.
"I was shocked when I saw Rehan here. But I was even more shocked when I had to face you. Aahil, I have never met a man who loves his wife as much as you do. Trust me at times I felt terrible for cheating you and your family! That night during Diwali, I left because I felt only Sanam had the right to be there with you, only she did! But still I didn't stop! I let Razia play her games and she almost won! I was completely wrong Aahil! Sanam is the one who suffered the most and now you are also suffering! All because of me!"
Rehan wrapped an arm around Seher. "Bhai, I had though that my relationship with Sunehri was over but then I decided to bring her back in my life! It was mostly because of you! Seeing your love made me want to give my love another chance! But little did I know that the woman I loved was in front of me the entire time! During your nikah I went to look for Sunehri, I wanted to surprise you but that didn't happen. Instead things got even worse!"
Seher took a deep breath, Aahil could see the guilt and remorse in her eyes.
"Aahil... the day of the nikah, Badi Ammi came and told me all about my family and my relationship to Sanam! She told me that what I was doing was a huge sin! She stopped me from committing the biggest crime of my life! After Razia realized that a better way to get the documents signed was by having me marry you first, I agreed! I think it was partially because I wanted to remove Rehan from my heart and also what the streets had turned me into. I agreed to be a part of this disgusting plan! But what was worse that once I realized that I could get all the money for myself, I decided that I was going to marry you and run off with the money without giving Razia anything! Its shameful but the truth! I was going to snatch my own sister's love!" She looked at Sanam and grief clouded over her eyes.
"When Badi Ammi told me about my real identity, I was shocked! I could not think straight! I had to go save Sanam before Razia fulfilled her plans! I had to fix what I messed up! For once I was really scared! I could not let anything happen to my sister! I acted foolish! Without informing you or Rehan, I went to rescue her from Razia's clutches. By the time we came back, it was too late! I ended up creating a bigger mess!"
"How did you meet Badi Ammi?" He looked at her quizzically. He tried to keep his rage in check. He feared that if he responded to anything else she said, he might just lose it! He tried to keep logic ahead of his emotions. But the anger was simmering inside of him!
"Razia had kidnapped her when she was on her way to Shimla. She was the woman under the burkha!"
Aahil closed his eyes and sighed. He had seen the woman once too. It was Badi Ammi! So much happened in his own house and he didnt know! He wanted to kill Razia!
"Where is Razia now!"
"Fortunately for her, she is died" Seher said sarcastically! "Otherwise I would have killed her myself!"
Seher sighed and then looked at him. He saw what he had missed then. He saw the difference in them! Aahil had no idea how he had mistaken her for Sanam! The little moments and gestures came back to him. No wonder she acted so weird! She was not Sanam! How could he not tell the difference! No wonder his words hurt Sanam so much!
Aahil felt a feeling of horror wash over him! What if they had gone ahead with the nikah! He loved Sanam yet then he could not see the difference he saw now! If he had recognized the difference then, things would have been much different! But in all of this, one person suffered the most! Sanam.
Aahil felt himself trembling. Sanam never left him! He didnt know whether to be happy or to hate himself for the way he acted! This explaned everything! Why "she" distanced herself from him! Why "her" yes became a no! Why things are the way they are now! None of it was Sanam's fault! He was busy planning his nikah while she was being tortured! He was the one who betrayed her! He broke her trust! Instead of protecting her, he hurt her! He had unknowingly gone ahead with a false nikah while she came back just for him! She had done everything right while he messed up! Aahil didnt care what she said or how she reacted! He needed her to talk!
Aahil went and softly placed his hand on her arm. "How?" That was all he could asked. He didnt have the energy to say more.
Sanam wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. "That night at the Kohinoor launch, when you --- when you assured me everything would be fine, I was ready for a beautiful life for us. I was so happy! But little did any of us know that such a big game was being planned for us!" She closed her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she appeared stronger.
Then she began to tell him everything! How she was kidnapped! How she was tortured! How she was hurt while he sat in his mansion trying to plan his nikah with "her" or rather her twin! How she was placed in a tank! How she was given injections! How she begged and cried for him! Her escaping and trying to reach him! How hard she worked to get back to him! During Haya's wedding! The morning after the nikah! She just wanted to be with him! Only to find that he had moved on!
To top it off, he had refused to trust her! He didn't even give her a chnace to explain before raining accusations and hurling insults at her! He declared her a servant! He declared his Begum, the owner of this house and the woman he loved, a servant! She had so much faith in him and he destroyed it! He failed to trust her! His heartbreak felt like nothing compared to hers! She didn't even break his heart! He was the one who wounded her instead! He was the one who mocked their love!
Aahil felt his entire body shake, with anger or shock he didnt know. He looked at the twin who could no longer meet his eyes. But more than her, he hated himself! He felt guilt stab at his heart to the point that he felt suffocated! He had claimed to love this woman but all he did was hurt her! Ammi was right! He would hurt Sanam and there was no way to make up for it!
Aahil felt his vision blurring and his chest burning. He didn't know when the tears came down and he grabbed Sanam and turned her around. He wrapped her in his arms and held her tight, he let his tears fall as he buried his face in her hair, not caring who else was in the room. He was breathing hard and heavy, not knowing how to make the pain go away! He didn't know how to make it up to her! His had hurt Sanam! His Sanam.
