Chapter - 2

First Sight...

He stood there, patiently waiting... well, impatiently waiting for her, "The Great Miss. Shekhawat" to arrive while the Singhania and Shekhawat seniors chatted animatedly, and enjoying the party.

"How much longer do I have to wait before she actually turns up?" he thought to himself as he looked at his watch for the zillionth time.

It had been half-an-hour since the party started and Taani Shekhawat was yet to make an entry.

"I wonder if she'll make it to the party today..." he thought to himself.

Suddenly, there were excited whispers all around as a group of people including the Singhanias and the Shekhawats crowded near the door. Buzzing with curiosity, he too made his way to the door, pushing past the crowd... and there she was, Taani Shekhawat.

With a constant smile playing on her lips, she first hugged her parents and then touched the feet of his parents. Her almond shaped hazel-brown orbs were twinkling with joy, while the perfect smile never left her lips. He knew that he was being stupid... rude... staring at her like that, but, he wasn't able to take his off her.

"Beautiful!" he said to himself, as he kept looking at her, unaware of anyone else around him.

"Reyaansh???" his father called out to him, bringing him out of his trance.

"Haan Papa?" he turned to his father, unwillingly taking his eyes off her.

"Beta... yeh Taani hai, if you remember... your childhood enemy and now, your business partner." said Rey's father to him.

"Oh... so you are Taani Shekhawat..." he said, as he forward his hand to her, for a formal hand-shake.

Now, it was her turn to stare at him. His brown orbs were shining, with a smile... no, a smirk playing on his lips, his hair ruffled and set at the same time, making him look cute and at the same time professional.

"Oh yeah... I'm Taani Shekhawat. Glad to meet you after a long time Singhania!" she said, as she too forwarded her hand.

For a brief moment when their hands touched each other, they felt a spark pass through their body, making them flinch. Slowly, their hands parted as they looked awkwardly at each other.

"Now that Taani is here... I think it's time to cut the cake!" said Ranvijay, breaking their preoccupation about each other.

"Of course!" said Rishi, as he led the way to the huge table where there lay a yummy-looking black-forest pastry.

"Ladies first..." said Rey as he picked the knife and handed it over to Taani.

Hesitantly, she took it from him, making sure that their hands didn't touch again. She didn't want to feel what she had felt before.

"Afraid of touching me Miss. Shekhawat?" asked Rey, a smirk flashing on his face as he understood her notions.

She glared at him before she brought the knife towards the cake. As she was about to cut the cake, she felt someone hold her hand and cut the cake from behind her. She turned back to find him cutting the cake along with her... or rather, making her cut the cake.

Rey was again mesmerized by how beautiful she was. Their proximity was driving him crazy. They were close enough to kiss if she just turned back to face him.

Exactly the same thoughts were playing in Taani's mind too. His breath was fanning the nape of her neck, sending shivers down her spine. If only she could just turn back and press her lips to his...

The chain of their thoughts was broken by a huge round of applause as they realized that they had actually cut the cake. Uneasily, they moved away from each other.

"Now... the official contract between the Singhanias and the Shekhawats has been signed." declared Rishi Shekhawat as he poured out the glasses of wine.

"To our partnership..." Ranvijay Singhania raised the glass of wine.

"To our partnership..." said both the Singhania and Shekhawat family together as they raised their glasses of wine.

Rey lifted his glass slowly, his eyes fixed on Taani, grabbing her attention. Her smile widened as she saw him lift the glass to her. She did the same, giving him a quick wink when the others weren't looking.

"So... shall we sign the deal Ranvijay?" asked Rishi, the contract file was presented in front of him.

"Of course... but, Taani and Reyaansh are supposed to sign as it is their partnership now. We are no longer heading the business." said Ranvijay, as he beckoned Taani and Rey to sign the contract.

"After you Miss. Shekhawat..." said Rey, as he handed over the file to Taani.

"Thank you Mr. Singhania..." she said, as she took the file from him, careful not to touch him again.

"Do I affect you so much, that you are nervous to touch me Miss. Shekhawat?" whispered Rey, as he stood next to her.

"Says who Mr. Singhania?" asked Taani, as she signed the file, handing it back to him.

"Your actions speak louder than words Miss. Shekhawat." he said, as he too signed the contract.

Their conversation stopped short as the crowd applauded again. Finally, the Shekhawats and Singhanias had merged together.

Taani walked out of the party hall, down to the lawn, the cool breeze fanning her face, a small smile playing on her lips, as she thought of Reyaansh Singhania.

"Thinking about me huh?" someone called out to her from behind, bringing her out of her trance.

She turned back to find Rey staring at her, the same old smirk playing on his lips.

"Think of the devil and the devil is here..." she whispered to herself as she walked towards him.

"Did you just say something?" asked Rey, as he moved closer to her.

"Nope... nothing at all Singhania... what are you doing here?" she asked, as she stood right in front of him, just a few inches left out between them.

"Just checking out on you..." he said, his lips pulling into a smile as he saw how close they were. Just a few inches more to close and...

"So..." his trance was broken as he heard her voice.

"So..." he said, at a loss to understand where their conversation was heading.

"Finally the deal is signed..." she said with a sigh.

"Not actually Miss. Shekhawat." he said, as he moved nearer to her, ready to close the distance between them.

"What do you mean???" she asked, guessing his intentions.

"Don't you know how to sign a deal?" he asked her, as slowly, yet aggressively pulled her closer to him, cupping her face his hands.

"Singhania, I don't..." whatever she was about to say stopped short as she felt his lips on hers, his tongue tracing the outline of her lips, as her hands on their own accord clutched at his hair ruffling it.

Without breaking the kiss, he slowly placed his hands on her bare waist under her saree, making her gasp. He then slowly thrust his tongue inside her mouth, tasting every corner of her mouth, while one of his hands moved towards the crook of her neck pulling her even closer to him.

Gradually, she pulled away from him, short of breath, her body still tingling at his touch. Her eyes were twinkling yet again, the smile never leaving her lips.

"So... now the deal is complete." said Rey, as he smirked seeing the blush on her cheeks.

"So... this is how you sign a deal huh?" she asked, as she moved away from him.

"Not always... this is actually the first time." he said, as he tried to kiss her again.

But this time, she stopped him, keeping her hand on his chest, right above his heart. He looked at her, disappointment clearly shown his eyes, as he saw the distance between them. It was her turn to smirk, seeing his lost puppy face.

"Welcome to my business world Mr. Singhania..." she said, as she moved closer to him, her lips meeting his, for the second time, hungry and passionate...
