How so? Narcissism, the concept itself is very well defined and easily gauged in psychology. It's a trait which is not only stable over time but can be reliably measured through many instruments. However in the context of Bigg Boss, yes there could be debate on who has displayed these tendencies. My application of the concept might be flawed.

I'm sure the psych evaluation administered to contestants before entry would include the NPI, a very common test. I would love to see the scores of contestants. One interesting thing is that narcissists actually don't perceive narcissism as a personality disorder. To them it's not a flaw.

Measured through instruments??? Can u elaborate? There are DSM criteria's to diagnose the disease. Ur information that this personality disorder stems from traumatic childhood does not hold true. Often times it is overindulgence/excessive praise by caretakers/parents or unrealistic approach/response that cause it. Though in most cases cause cannot be documented.
Btw one salient criteria is lack of empathy and self-centeredness apart from delusion of grandiosity. Both clearly absent in housemate Gautam! When he saved Sushant from the sevak post and also the way he forgave Puneet/Praneet for violence is highly unlikely in narcissistic personality disorder. So when u say how were certain housemates allowed on show it sounds scandalous. The show even had psychiatrist to comment on each housemate and no such judgment was passed by the psychiatrist. Moreover all are heavily screened for their disorders/medications before they enter the show

Responding to your enquiries one by one,

1. Instruments here means self administered questionnaires and tests, psycholocial observation etc. like the Narcissistic Personality Inventory.

2. Narcissism emerges as a result of many reasons. Most common as you pointed out is over indulgence in childhood. However, less common is an emotionally traumatic and cold childhood. The child then develops narcissism as a defense mechanism. I was merely mentioning it to bring forth the less discussed aspect.

3. In no way do I want to malign or scandalise the creators of the show, however as an observer I have found two contestants to be less resilient emotionally. Mr. Gulati and Ms. Mahajan. Either they should have been advised to stay out of the show. Or at least the risks made clear. Hopefully that was done. I imagine pshycolocial well being of contestants is not a priority as compared to other considerations. Also here I'm not in any way implying that they are dangerous to others, in fact I'm saying this show will harm them the most. Hence, I became genuinely alarmed at the outbursts of both contestants.

4. In my opinion Mr. Gulati has displayed Extreme Narcissitic tendencies. In psychological profiles, you look for consistent patterns over time. That is why I still think 3 months is barely enough time to make assumptions. His patterns are more consistent than others. That is why I said he is a simple study. I will still not categorise it as Narcisstic Personality Disorder. My fear is that if an intervention is not made it can become acute, especillay if he wins the show. Also such a diagnosis requires psychological and psychiatric evaluations, observations and interview within the close social circle. Additionally each and every action of such an individual is not self centred or narcissistic. It is the percentage and pattern of behaviour. In psychology we say focus on normal rather than the exception.

5. Finally, I wish all the best to all the contestants. To me pshycolocial well being should not be subservient to anything.
