I guess Colonel's decision to choose Aakash over Anjali was the hottest and most controversial topic discussed in this forum. I was the one who started that topic is Abhayankar a good leader because his feelings for Anjali as a daughter overcame his decision as a leader on who is better suited. The need to protect her was utmost in his mind when he took the decision. Would say an act of chivalry which most men do. Whether to their daughter's, sister's, wives or friends. It is not a bad thing, but too much of it constraing a woman's choice is the first step towards discrimination is what I have always felt.
Now coming to the point what actually differentiates colonel and Jagat. I would say yesterday's epi clearly differentiated them. Anjali asks Colonel whether he excluded her because she is a girl. Colonel tells that the real reason was her father asked him not to take her, but he also accepts that her being a girl did matter in his decision making. What I liked about it was he accepted the fact that her gender was a fact that came while making the decision. He accepts old habits die hard. He has to keep himself updated. He has to understand the change. Also we need to see that colonel rightly criticized Anjali's method of coming up without telling anyone, but he appreciated her intent, talent and allowed her to come along with them. He is a man who is willing to change, whose ego doesn't cloud his decision.
Now on the other side look at Jagat. While on one hand colonel is able to appreciate what Anjali has done this man's ego is unable to take the fact his daughter is defying the notions he has always held for woman. He cant find happiness in the fact that his daughter was responsible for saving 7 lives. Jagat ideally should be on cloud nine as Reena is announcing if the rescue mission is successful Anjali can be recommended for President's Gallantry award. Which father wont be proud of such an achievement of his ward whether his son or daughter. But what is Jagat doing. He is nit picking on how Anjali dared to disobey him, colonel and Khanna. From where she learnt to do such things. She was a quiet girl. Not a single word of appreciation come from this man for the feat his daughter achieved. Instead he blasts his wife for her negligence and allowing his daughter to go disobeying him. This man does not want to change. He just want to hold on to things he believe. If anything wrong happens point fingers at someone and escape๐Ÿ˜ก. For a better society it is men like Jagat who needs to be cured of their disease.

Loved that dialogue of Abhyankar's: "We all have to update the software inside us"...what a great way to say he needs to change his mentality. ๐Ÿ˜†

As we had said on the previous post, Anjali's gender had been a major deciding factor in his not choosing her. At least Colonel was honest to admit that. Belonging to an old-fashioned generation, he was also thinking in terms of chivalry, that he cannot put a girl's life in danger knowingly.

But Jagat is really incorrigible, hes a hopeless case! Even after hearing the glorious words of praise for Anjali, both on TV and from Khanna, hes still blaming Sarita for "spoiling her daughter" and berating Anjali for being so insubordinate! ๐Ÿ˜•
I dont think Jagat even has a heart, inspite of what Anjali thinks abt him. Hes just an unfeeling, brutish, regressive, abusive, misogynist jerk!
He doesnt even consider Anjali as his daughter, Vidhaan was correct! Even the worst father would have felt a tinge of pride at all the praise being showered upon Anjali. But not this Brigadier Rawat!

wow, I was about to make a post on this...
Colonel is a very flexible and raesonable man...Like I said before, Colonel's decision can't be ruled out as completely wrong, he did consider her safety... and As leader , he is bound to think about his team member's safety... I don't know , if the decision would have been different , had the leader been a female herself! nevertheless, I loved How Colonel, like a true gentleman, accepted how he was influenced by old ideas... and that, each day he tries to upgrade himself...

@Brigadier- i feel pity for him. Poor man, doesn't even realize how small and insignificant he has become in front of his daughter,,,who still tries to Understand her dad , and reason out his behaviour in his defence to outsiders! what a magnanimous girl she is! there is no bitterness in her, forget about disrespecting him! The fact that anjali is trying to defend his dad for his misdeeds , should be a reason enough for him to be ashamed of himself... That she has gone to such lengths to be LOVED by him, should make him realise his failure as a father and as Human being in general.

the precap looks misleading.. it seems he is again back to his tactics!๐Ÿ˜ก

@bright-star you cant expect Jagat to change that fast. Actually his ego is getting hurt more and more by what Anjali is doing. Men like Jagat don't like their ego hurt. They simply cant take it. I mean it is very difficult for them to accept they are wrong. It is because of this he is unable to accept her feat.
Sarita was right. He never understood his daughter for what she really is.
@pallavi yes software needs to be updated was a classic dialogue. See it is always easy to forgive and forget when someone admits a mistake has been made as there is no point going over again and again over the past on why you did this and that. Because mistakes happen to everyone of us. But a man like colonel is learning from his mistakes and correcting himself, whereas men like Jagat are refusing to accept they did a mistake.

Good post

Colonel is the one who understands the change...appreciates it but fails to grasp it

Jagat is the one who does not understand, does not appreciate, does not grasp...only blasts wife and daughter...

jagat is seriously biggest disappointment in the name of a father...

shame on him...

Nice post. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Abhyankar's biggest advantage is training people at NIM allows him to understand different thought patterns. He knows how to reach all by adopting different convincing methods to make his students understand. A teacher knows how to handle many at a time. To understand what is going on in their mind he has to stay update & he does update his software. That's why he pointed out his soldier's (Anjali) mistakes & appreciated her work too. But not to forget that's after seeing he saving act.
Jagat is a father. They are 99% over protective about their daughter. He is the same father to whom Anjali went in the morning with his breakfast, the day she had to leave for Delhi. He was reading news paper. She stood there. He asked her, what do you want? A father understood a daughter's way of asking, demanding. He didn't need much convincing, said yes soon. If he was that conservative then would have told her to just sit at home. ๐Ÿ˜†
As per the standard criteria of his responsibality he wants to get her married to Vidhan, whom he likes. It's funny how both Jagat & Bhardwaj are excited about the marriage but their children are least interested.
It's very difficult for Jagat to accept the fact that no one is following his orders. Neither Anjali, Abhyankar, Khanna. Anjali is far from his direct reach. He is helplessly reacting to a situation he can do nothing about. This is a helpless conservative father, whom even Vidhan is able to refuse. He is like getting attacked on a battle field whose attacks are not affective.
Even in real life some of us must have experienced parents refusing to accept their child's career option, which is not right according to them. But they do accept, appreciate, feel proud of, when their child succeeds in their life.
Everyone has an Everest in their life. To reach their they have to cross a Kumbhu first. Jagat too has to cross his Kumbhu to understand Anjali.
I won't be surprised if he'll start supporting his daughter whole heartedly after some time.
Such characters are taken, inspired from real life. Fathers like Jagat are there & they do change, learn to accept, respect their child's wish, dream.

@mnx yes Jagat has to change and his change towards Anjali is actually Anjali's Everest not the peak itself.
But if she had sat quiet accepting her fate the change wouldn't have happened. Now her decision to go to Mt Everest has won her supporters. Starting from her mother. The lady who has quietly taken her husband's barbs and taunts is finally standing upto him questioning his behavior towards his daughter. Actually that in itself I would say a biggest success for Anjali, giving voice to her mother. It was her daughter's innate need to find acceptance that has given courage to Sarita to speak for her. Then Vidhaan, now the Everest team and slowly the world.

@shruthiravi, life throws challanges. The one who accepts them, works hard with determination has more chances of Succeeding. Anjali listened to her heart, went ahead alone, so in future she may not regret of not taking a chance of joining the team. Her decision proved right. Only future can show result of one's actions & other's reactions. Thanks to Rungta's marketing strategy, she will be a known name, it'll gain his company enough publicity. Seeing this Jagat will be forced to accept & respect her wish.
Abhyankar lives in present & Jagat in past. His efforts to accept the present, will be a turning pt of his life.

Hat post!!
I couldn't watch yesterday's episode on time.. Now only I catched the repeat.. I loved interaction between Col and Anjali.. Anjali questioned his reasoning in not taking part in mission because of gender...But Col's answer looks perfect for a moment.. When time and circumstances travelling to each part, and it's true at some point of view we could change or accept the rules. It's like updating ourselves loved his lines.. This was a major difference between Col and Jagat.. Here Col too failed to get back Tara and he too was alone within himself but he never took life as a failure step.. Altogether he was learning each day, trying to do something good for whatever Tara's desire to do.. Jagat leaving in his own line, he doesn't want to give a chance or paving way to explore success or overcoming his disappointment.. He never tried to understand his own family either he couldn't rectify his mistake in not reading his daughters vision..it's like you can't decide person's success or failure.. When whole world slowly realising her extraordinary caliber in saving people under rescue mission.. While Anjali left out Jodhpur, with so much of expectations, passionate dream in attaining her goal and she was not simply idle... Its egoclashes suffering and killing him.. Where Col could understand the reality infact his approach looks normal and rational. He makes him more easier for any person to enter by making their issues so positive and endearing.. I hope soon Jagat will come out from his non acceptable theory in accepting her daughters victory which was glorified all over the world.. When whole world could witness her ability why not him.. He know it but still he doesn't want her to give space..

๐Ÿ˜Šnice post shruthi.i do agree with you .you have explaind it nicely.jagat seems to be a hopeless person to most of the people on this forum but i think he has never tried to understand his daughter due to his own reasons but now when he got to know about his daughter's capabilities from outsiders,he is slowly trying to change himself but every change requires time especially when it 21 years old hatred towards some person.i think soon he will emerge as a good father as shown in the precap where instead of having a soldiers promise,he refuses to marry his daughter to vidhaan because he knows vidhaan doesn't love her and somehow he knows that her daughter too has some other choices in her life
