Pratima's Yuvraj vs Dadi's Yuvraj: Why Yuvraj was silent today

Hi everyone! 😊
So, obviously today's episode left everyone in confusion as to why he was SILENT and didn't counter Soumya's jibes. Here is a post where I attempt to understand why that happened.

I feel it is because of a war between Yuvraj's heart and mind, between Pratima's Yuvraj and Dadi's Yuvraj. There is a reason for Yuvraj not realising his love for Suhani and that reason is that there isn't a clear victor of this war.

Dadi's Yuvraj- This is the man we saw at the very beginning- rude, arrogant, superficial, uncaring and unmindful of anybody who didn't satisfy his Dadi's criteria of beauty. He believed a fair face means a fair heart and didn't bother to examine a person's personality, but rather relied on external beauty to judge people. This is Dadi's mental conditioning wherein his mind refuses to recognise that he could love a girl who is a plain Jane.

Pratima's Yuvraj- I feel this part of Yuvraj is the one who was raised by Pratima to be a kind, upstanding, caring and sympathetic individual. This is the guy we saw when he went out in the rain to get that quilt so Suhani could escape Dadi, when he teases, pushes and pulls at Suhani and makes fun of her samosa habit, or when he cares for Suhani when she is hurt and feels his heartstrings tug in her presence. It is his heart which is able to recognise Suhani's goodness and drives the raw, primal and permanent bond he has with Suhani. This is the part of him which knows what a wonderful gem Suhani is and cherishes her presence and time.

Now, coming to the battle, I feel that Pratima's Yuvraj and Dadi's Yuvraj are currently whipping up a storm inside Yuvraj. Yuvraj is still unable to consider Suhani an equal in his mind, because his mind tells him that only external beauty is worth of love. This is why he was able to easily confuse his infatuation for Soumya as love, because his mind told him that she was his equal, based on her exterior. However, his heart has slowly but steadily started beating for plain Jane Suhani because, being a product of Pratima's upbringing, it is able to recognise a kindred soul like Suhani when it sees one. His heart is falling in love with Suhani while his mind refuses to accept this fact, after all, it's years and years of Dadi's conditioning that created this complex.

Today, he was dumbstruck and utterly perplexed by Soumya's declaration because his heart and mind haven't come to a cohesive conclusion about Suhani YET. This is why he spoke out of his obligation as a husband, rather than someone who loves Suhani. This realisation hasn't sprouted in his mind yet. I feel it will take a big event like the loss of Suhani from his life for his heart and mind to unite and for all his prejudices and stereotypes to be vanquished.

So, worry not people, the day when Yuvraj realises he is in love with Suhani will be the day he considers her his true EQUAL and not a vessel of pity..

That will be the day Pratima's Yuvraj defeats Dadi's Yuvraj. 😊

@Clairty- outstanding post. I haven't seen the episode and frankly seeing all the uproar usually turns me off so I'm not sure if I'll actually watch it but your analysis seems to fit the bill. I mentioned that in my OS too...he's fighting an inner battle.

Personally I feel that Yuvraj is a stubborn man. At some point early on he decided that he would never be able to love Suhani the way she loves him and he felt bad for it. I think he accepted that and now whatever is happening is challenging his own acceptance of that fact...but what I feel is that Soumya's confession is basically pushing stubborn Yuvraj's buttons because somewhere inside of him, seeing that Suhani has such an outrageous friend and seeing the person WHO HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY FEELINGS FOR ANYMORE, confessing love for him with so much audacity is bringing about his feelings of protecting Suhani...he is afraid that Suhani will get hurt if any of this gets exposed...and he realizes that fear exists not only because Suhani is his wife but because he deeply cares for Suhani.

Right now Yuvraj is very vulnerable to Suhani. He is in the position where his resentment is finished and he has moved on from the past...so that proces of slowly falling in love has never had a better chance to begin than now...and it has. It just begun and that's why he has no answer for Soumya...and he couldn't say that he was rejecting her because he loves Suhani because a part of him thinks it's impossible for him to even love her...but I think he is 100% over Soumya.

I feel his realization that perhaps he is developing some feelings for Suhani will come...and he will become subdued due to that as well as due to the fact that he fears Suhani getting to know the truth.

I'll try to see the epi and offer some more insight on Yuvraj, if I can. But I think people have to accept that Yuvani are end game and Yuvraj WILL love Suhani maybe even more than she loves him.

Thanks for clarifying and instilling faith Clarity. This was needed after today's episode. It was not just Yuvraj battling between mind and heart...it was me too.

@bold- Yes, Yuvraj has A LOT of preconceived notions about beauty, his ideal partner, love and compatibility. He had decided as soon as saw he Suhani that she could never be right for him. In fact, he dismissed her in a way that considering her a potential partner would never even have occurred to him. 😕 Years and years of being told that dark is ugly and the right partner for him has to be a beauty, first and foremost has messed up his mind.

@red- If he didn't love Suhani, all this confusion and tumult would not be plaguing him right now. When Soumya confessed her love to him, he didn't once think about what could have been or about himself, but rather recounted the fact that he is Suhani's HUSBAND and he is a committed man. Soumya was right that he is lying to himself but wrong on what he is lying to himself about. Yuvraj is trying to rationalise that he keeps Suhani happy because he's trying to be a good husband, where as it is because he is irresistibly drawn to her and has started loving her. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to joke and bond with her the way he does and remember what makes her sad or happy, like her love for samosas.

I think the episode was worth watching. I loved the Yuvraj-Soumya confrontation because he completely rebuffed her and told her to get out in clear words. I think the story is moving forward and so are Yuvraj's feelings. He told Soumya that she is betraying Suhani and wants no part of it.

I started watching the episode with lots of expectations...after seeing him ignore and snub Soumya, I hoped for him to lash out at her today too. I knew he's still unaware of his feelings for Suhani...yet I expected him to shield her from this snake.

But when Soumya pointed out that he still loves her and to escape from accepting it, he's treating Suhani special... I wanted him to shut her up by denying that accusation.But he stood still...and true he never looked in her eye nor did he say 'I don't love you anymore...'. All he said was 'am married, committed and am your BF's husband...' and Soumya said so what? That doesn't change the truth that you still have feelings for me. All he reminded that snake was "how can you do this to Suhani...she stood by you and considers you her sister...". That's it...!!!

And how the hell did he agree to go for a movie with her...maybe Suhani must have pleaded...but this guy at times this guy can be so rude and harsh to her and walks off...couldn't he do that today??

I agree he doesn't love Suhani...but I was so sure that he doesn't love Soumya and is over her...but I felt like questioning this. The guy is still battling between looks and soul...?? I mean...he's known Soumya and Suhani for months and by now I thought he looked and judged Suhani beyond her appearance... and knew what is beyond Soumya's so called pretty face. Uff...this guy has me all confused today.

But I have to give it to Soumya today...her grittiness at expressing her feelings, at convincing Yuvraj and finally throwing a challenge at him...which left him stunned and bewildered.

And when she challenged him to tell Suhani everything...Yuvraj stood silent...at this point Soumya misunderstood his silence...but for what I couldn't make out. why did she say...'you can't tell the truth to Suhani...bcos, and he walked off abruptly"...what did she mean by that?

Hey Elita! 😊Don't be too disappointed. As we saw, we never saw Yuvraj's reaction to Suhani's movie invite, so the CVs might just surprise us by having Yuvraj foil Soumya's plans. I think they may do this, mainly because they didn't show Yuvraj's face before switching to Suhani-Soumya.

@bold- No, Eli, he definitely is over Soumya. If you notice the confrontation, he never contemplates getting back with Soumya or their past moments together. He is thinking about Suhani being hurt and Soumya's despicable betrayal. It is a reaction of anger towards Soumya for her scheming but not for rebuffing his love in the past. He is over that. I think Soumya is not even in the picture for him, he is rather battling his mind over his love for Suhani. The one who is making him question his life's beliefs is Suhani and not Soumya. He is unable to view her as an equal which is why he doesn't think he loves Suhani right now. Definitely, that is because of the beauty vs personality disconnect in his mind.
I think she wanted to complete the sentence by saying that. "You can't tell her the truth because you can't watch me love". Puke. 🤢 However, what a dumbass. If he told Suhani the truth, then Soumya could actually live in Birla House in peace.

I agree...Yuvraj is messed up...like most of our TV heroes are these days...he has a very mixed up upbringing...reminds me of balika vadhu where they would show kid Jagya and his conflicted childhood...on one hand he had his father who wanted to discipline him, and on the other hand his grandmother who wanted to spoil him as he was her laadla...and then we had his gentle mother who was caught in between...that confused upbringing led him to suffer later on in life while the culprit, mostly his Dadi, got away with it. Here Yuvraj is paying for the narrow-minded thinking of his family. Even Pratima is fair and has light eyes...he is the only one with a spouse who is the total opposite of what that family wants. Pratima's 2 other bahus are in Dadi's hands, not Pratima's...and here's someone who Dadi can't stand...

@bold- absolutely...he is dumbstruck at the moment because somewhere in his soul he has felt something for this person who he pretty much accepted he would be living with but not loving for the rest of his life. If he loved Soumya even now then his mouth should have started watering at midnight on New Years...because her confession should have sent him into a dream world...that he could have her back...it should have sent him down memory lane with flashbacks. He is an honest guy who doesn't think that way about Soumya...the best part is, he is not over Soumya because she rejected him, I feel he just got over her naturally because his feelings for her came and went just like that...

On the other hand his feelings for Suhani are just coming on and the inner turmoil they are creating is unlike anything he experienced before...and he is unwilling to face them or question them but this confession will make him do just that!!! So in a way, thanks Soumya...because now all Yuvraj will think about is his wife...whether he shows that or not doesn't matter to me...

As I was watching the episode, I could just see Yuvraj's disgust for Somu. He never once thought about getting back what he lost etc. So, don't lose heart at all. 😳 This episode was definitely the CVs layering Yuvi's character- they are showing us that it takes time and a lot of work to break down the kind of walls that Dadi has erected in Birla Mansion. However, the day they come down, they will come down hard. 😳
