How many of you have watched Monsoon Wedding? I was surprised at what a refreshingly beautiful little film it is.
1 It deals with such complex subjects in such a mature way. I think Mira Nair pulled off these emotional scenes so well. It was realistic and heartachingly beautiful.
2. Some of the best character actors have performed in the film. Vasundhara Das was a surprise one for sure. But Naseeruddin Shah, lilette Dubey, Rajat Kapoor, Shefali Shah (the best!), even the little guy who plays the brother - all delivered faultless performances
3. Such beautiful songs. Most are folk songs, but they fit the narrative very well. My favourite scene/song is this

4. It has young Randeep Hooda, very handsome Ram Kapoor before he ballooned up and Jas Arora - a handsome hunk.
