CHAPTER ONE

ANUSHKA

"Wake up you sleepy head!" Devyani mumbled in her sleep as she could barely hear someone trying to break her out of her peaceful slumber.

Anushka sighed as watched her older sister trying to wake up the girl who slept like rock. Peeya would giggle when Devyani tossed around and would slap Alka dreamily, not enough to hurt her.

Well hello to those of you who do not know me, I am Anushka Shastri who is way too calm and collected as my sisters like to describe me. Well okay maybe I am, but someone has got to gear up and act mature for these girls I call my sisters. You do not need my description do you? It is the same old, black hair and brown eyes. Typical!

Enough about me now let me introduce you to my sisters. There is Alka didi who is a cheerful enthusiast and a desi filmy girl. She is very sweet and a prim and proper caretaker who we desperately need.

Then there is my youngest little doll, Peeya who is also known as Guddu. She is a little bundle of joy and happiness, so innocent that it would even put a baby to shame. If there is one person who no one can go up against then it would be her.

Last but never the least is the girl lying right over there dozing off as if she has hours to spare. Devyani is the queen of her own wishes and demands. She would keep secrets and her boosted confidence would make her the first one who would be ready for a fight.

Right now we are supposed to be up and get going with our packed bags to Delhi. Yeah you heard it right; we are going to a totally new place with totally new people. I wonder how we are going to cope. We have heard so much about the place that sometimes I am not sure whether I still live here in Kanpur. Sareen uncle, the best friend to our father, has even made arrangements for us to stay with him in his mansion. He is filthy rich I tell you, something that would need a lot of getting used to.

"Uh, just five more minutes please." Devyani drawled and snapped me back to reality.

"Okay didi I agree, you have to get up now or we will miss our flight." Peeya added shaking the sleeping girl.

Devyani paid no heed to our request and just tossed over in her half sleepy state. I shook my head in annoyance but smirked none the less. There was only one thing that would work now.

"Devyani you just have fifteen minutes for your makeup. You do not want to look like a ghost do you?" I called out teasingly and that did the trick. She shot out of her bed and ran straight for the bathroom slamming the door shut behind her. This left the rest of us giggling at her antics.

DEVYANI

I bounced up and down in my seat as Alka didi attended dad's call after every fifteen minutes. It annoyed me sometimes how he would worry over us, we were not kids for goodness sake. But I never complained, he was the only parent and all he had was the four of us. Peeya looked excitedly out of the window while Anushka tried to calm me down but in vain.

"Madam, please switch off you cell phone as it is time to take off." An air hostess requested and Alka didi bid quick farewell to dad and hung up on the phone. This lady smiled and left, she was pretty I thought. Huh, but I am prettier I smiled smugly flipping my hair.

The next hour and a half passed in a blur but it was not boring. My eyes were glued to the window as the person on the microphone went on about the temperature, happy journey and all that stuff. This place was amazing. Not poor or traditional kind of place but somewhere I dreamed to grow up in all my life.

This place excited me. I sprung up and was the first one to get off the airplane as I dragged Peeya out with me.

"Nice place." Alka didi smiled and pulled down her shirt awkwardly. I inwardly laughed at the uncomfortable expressions on my two elders' faces. This morning I had forced them to change into something more modern instead of their boring suits.

Alka didi wore blue skinny jeans with a button down green shirt tucked in and held by a thin neon green belt. She wore ballet flats with a cute little bow on top. Her makeup only consisted of nude gloss and kohl with mascara with her straight hair pinned up in a half bun. Anushka was harder to convince but still I got her to wear black skinny jeans with a colorful tee shirt and blue flip flops to go with it. Her pink glossed lips were pursed as she tugged at her silky long hair flowing down to her waist.

Peeya wore her white and red sundress and I wore pink pants and black top with ruffled sleeves. Ah, it doesn't matter what I wear, I'll look beautiful anyways.

Loading our luggage into a cab that had been pre booked for us, thanks to Sareen uncle, we took our places in the backseat. The driver had already been directed as he drove through the wide roads letting us enjoy the beauty of this new place.

The ride was silent and everyone was lost in their own thoughts. I wondered how our new house would be, or better yet, mansion. Sareen uncle lived in one of the posh areas of Delhi and with the perfect family. From what I have heard, he has a shopaholic wife with whom I'm sure I'll get along very well, and two amazing sons. One of them being 25 and the other was 22 years of age.

Poor Peeya, she would still be in the eleventh grade being 17 years of age. And Alka didi has already completed her college life two years back and now is 25 years old. Anushka and I have just an year's gap, her being 21 and me being 20, but we would be together through the university life.

The car came to a sudden halt, making me jerk and hit my head against the driver's seat. Before I could yell at him he ushered us out of the cab and unloaded our luggage in front of a huge house. When I say huge, I mean huge.

The fencing was high and held a beautiful metallic gate that curved into intricate designs. It was like one of those that you see in a movie and immediately fall in love with it. Looking past the green fence we gazed in awe at the fresh green grass and lush trees that bordered the fence. It was not a park rather a well maintained garden with bushes of exotic flowers. A cobblestone pathway led to the steps of the huge mansion. The majestic cream colored walls stood tall, casting a shadow as the sun lowered into the horizon. It had three sections to it. The one in the centre was wide and while the other two flanking its sides were long and more and covered more of the garden. It was not one with sloping roofs rather it was the one with a flat terrace. There were so many huge glass windows that glinted as the sun glared down them. A huge dark wooden door with big metallic handlebars marked the entrance to the grand house.

"Pinch me someone, I am surely dreaming." Alka didi fanned her face and sighed dreamily. I looked back at the massive house lost in a trance. Even Peeya stood there like a fool at the doorstep just staring at the house. Finally it was Anushka who stepped up and rang the doorbell.

The deep chimes echoed around the house and we stepped back. We could hear heels clicking against the floor as the person neared the door. More footsteps shuffled around the door and we held our breaths in anticipation of what awaited us as the polished door finally opened to welcome us in.

There you go, the first chapter! Now if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to update this story and post the next chapter then I would be grateful. Please review and tell me if you like it or not. Also there will be twists in the story one of them being this filthy rich Sareen family. The drama in this story is not boring, trust me it will be different and will make you wish that our daily soaps could be like this. Have I gone too far? Nah! Please comment or review or PM or whatever. Thank you!

CHAPTER TWO

ANUSHKA

I took a deep breath to relax my nerves as the door swung open to reveal three people standing on its other side. One of them was our very own loving father, who stood there with his arms open wide and a big smile stretching across his face. As soon as we saw him, all of us rushed into his arms forgetting our bags and everything. The warmth of our family hugs always made me feel at peace and contentment.

"Papa, are you okay? Why did you not pick up our call? Is everything alright?" I fussed over him as worry creased my forehead.

"And there she goes again." Devyani muttered and Alka didi elbowed her with a sharp look.

Papa laughed merrily, patting my head as he turned to Sareen uncle "See, did I not tell you about how Anu is going to react as soon as she sees me?!" it was more of a statement than a question.

It was now that I noticed a man and a woman standing near the door with smiles on their faces. The man, who I figured was Sareen uncle, looked quite young even in his fifties. He had short black hair with a mustache and a jolly face with a contagious smile. He was tall and strong and his laugh would warm up anyone's heart.

Beside him stood a woman who must be in her late forties, by the look of it. Minty aunty was an average heighted healthy woman who managed to pull off even the simplest of the outfits and look elegant. She pink lips pulled into a small smile as she welcomed us all with a tight hug. "Ah, I had always wanted my own daughter." She stroked our faces when Sareen uncle interrupted "And now you have four."

I straightened my tee after all the hugs and kisses were over with and finally looked around the grand house. Calling it grand would be an understatement. The room we were in was the living room with light beige walls that held huge paintings and pictures. The marble of the floor was so sparkly that one could see their reflection in it without straining. The ceiling was high with a grand crystal chandelier that doused the room in warm golden light. The furniture was dark brown with leather couches and classy dcor.

It was hard not to gape when we were led to sit on the comfy couches and Minty aunty served us the most delicious homemade juice I have ever tasted. I smiled and thought, I guess this palace is going to have a lot of getting used to.

Pleasant conversations flew around the room with Devyani squealing excitedly and Peeya giggling. It did not interest me until Alka didi brought up one question I had been mulling over. "Uncle ji, aunty ji, where are your sons?"

Minty aunty stood tall and proud as she called out to Rajat and Neel in a loud but clear voice. All heads turned to where the staircase was but moments passed and there was still no sign of any boy. Aunty laughed sheepishly and excused herself to go get her sons but a deep masculine voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Mom!" the voice called out again and my heart skipped a beat at the sound of that voice. I dreaded turning around to face the two boys who were still at the top of the staircase because no one and I mean no one had made me react like this before. I looked over to my sisters each of them having different reactions. Alka didi smiled warmly while Peeya grinned and poked Devyani who seemed to be in a daze, fan-girling over the two boys.

I slowly but steadily turned around to look up the staircase as two tall figures took their own leisure time to climb down. The one in lead who I guessed was Neel had a grin set across his fair face. He must be around 5'11 or at the max 6' feet with a lean built and messy hair. But he was not the one who made my heart race. Behind him was another tall boy, if you could call him that, he had a fair face with a strong jaw. His eyes shined and his perfect lips were pulled into a perfect smile. It was not hard to see that this one worked out and the red muscle tee shirt that hugged his torso was making it too obvious. This man was perfect, be it his strong arms and toned chest or his spiky hair and handsome face. No, scratch that. He is not handsome, he is simply Godly.

My eyes widened as I caught hold of my thoughts and mentally berated myself for such thoughts about a person I had not even met.

"Good afternoon, Uncle." Rajat greeted papa and Neel bowed his head politely. Papa smiled and patted their shoulders as her returned their greeting. "I would like you to meet my daughters." Papa stated proudly.

"Alka." He said and didi smiled and waved "Hello." The boys returned her gesture.

"Peeya." The said girl took a few steps forward and hugged them lightly. I was shocked, Guddu is never so bold as to go up and hug boys. And from the looks of it even the boys were surprised but soon they smiled and hugged our little doll back.

"Devyani." She smiled and flipped her hair as she said "Hi!" Rajat laughed and said hi but Neel commented "So this was the little fighter you were talking about, huh Shastri uncle?" Devyani scowled while everyone laughed.

"And Anushka." I had no idea what to do. Should I say a simple hello or maybe just smile, oh gods why am I so nervous. So I did the first thing that came to mind. Joining my hand in front of my chest I bowed my head a little and said "Namaste." Neel looked at me strangely but copied my action without complain. I turned to Rajat who had an eyebrow raised and a smirk settled on his face. He took a few steps towards me and my heartbeat quickened. He came to s stop just a feet from me and joined his hands and bowed "Namaste." Somehow I felt that he was mocking me so I took an immediate dislike to his personality.

I turned my head sideways as he rose to smile a teasing smile. It was then that Minty aunty told us to go freshen up and get ready for a late lunch. She directed Neel and Rajat to guide us to our rooms and I was surprised to know that we would not get a room to share. Papa had his room here on the ground floor with Uncle and Aunty but all the youngsters had their rooms upstairs. As I climbed up the stairs, I struggled with my luggage.

Devyani and Peeya already have Neel helping them out but Alka didi and I were too stubborn to let Rajat help us. Though I am very sure we had different reasons for that. Lost in my thoughts, I did not notice when my foot got caught in the thick bag strap and I lost my balance. I was sure I was going to fall back to my death so I scrunched my eyes close and braced for the impact. A moment passed in silence and the tension in the air thickened but neither the impact came nor the pain. I slowly opened my eyes only to find myself still in the mid air with my bag in my hand. But how was this possible?

A snapping sound brought me back to reality and I saw the strap of my bag rip off due to the strain. Where on one side I held onto it with my dear life, Rajat had also grabbed hold of the strap to prevent me from falling. As soon as we heard the strap rip I jerked and would've tumbled down the staircase had the boy with his fast reflexes not wrapped his strong arms around my waist.

Even in such a dire situation my body reacted to his touch and blood rushed to my face coloring it red. My hands were on his chest and I could feel his heart beat strongly as he breathed down my neck.

"Anushka!" Alka didi cried out and Rajat hastily made me stand straight drawing back so quickly as if I had burned him. It was just for a moment that anger flooded me and I wanted to scream my head off at how dare he touch me. "You..." I hissed but trailed off.

I was standing here unharmed because of him and I was about to blame him? Ah, silly Anu!

"I am okay." I waved off and quickly reached the top before anyone could fret over me. Everyone was silent for the rest of the way. This central building had only a long corridor which led to the two other sections of the house and that was where the rooms were located. We went towards the right and stopped near the last four doors. Hm, I wonder what the other doors hide.

"Well, there you go. These are the four rooms arranged for you girls. Feel free to take your pick." Rajat spoke as he motioned to four dark brown doors. This place looked like a hotel and just as clean and elegant.

"Your Highness, I think you would like the first one, after all it has a pink theme based dcor." Neel taunted Devyani who pretended to be displeased but I knew she loved what she saw when she peeked in.

"Your dad helped us decide what you girls would like, still if there is something you need just ask and you shall receive." Rajat said courteously opening the door to Peeya's purple based room welcoming her in. Peeya gasped and squealed thanking the two of them a million times over. "Well a princess deserves the best." Rajat laughed and ruffled her hair.

That sound of his laughter was so cheerful and heart melting that I could not help but smile. Alka didi's room was orange themed with dark mahogany furniture. Neel led me to the last door and slowly pushed it open. The sight before me left me speechless as I could not have imagined myself in a room as beautiful as this.

The walls were the shade of lightest silverish white that gleamed in the light of light blue chandelier in the centre ceiling. I mean who places chandelier in a bedroom for goodness sake. The huge window that left almost no room for the wall opposite to the door let the sunlight in graciously. Thick royal blue curtains were pulled to the side allowing a perfect view of the garden below. Towards the right side was a queen sized bed with a royal blue canopy and the sheets were light blue with white pillows. The marble floor was spotless white as a soft blue rug brightened it up. Beside the bed were small white tables. The furniture was pure white, not brown or black or any other color for that matter. To my left, just opposite to the bed was a huge table with small drawers and glass shelves. A little far from it was a misted glass door that led to a walk in closet with blue lights which further led to a big bathroom with bathtubs and all.

"I would suggest that you close your mouth before your jaw literally drops to the floor." A voice interrupted my thoughts and I whipped around to find Neel face palming, my sisters giggling and Rajat smirking as he leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed. Embarrassed, I pushed my way through them and closed the door to my room. "Do you have nothing to do other than bug me?" I muttered and walked away.

I had hoped for a peaceful life in Delhi but I guess my wish would remain unfulfilled.

PEEYA

I bounced down the stairs where everyone was ready to have their lunch. It was down in the living room as Minty aunty did not want her new dining covers to be stained. I found it funny how these people reacted sometimes; even my own sisters were no less.

The always sweet and kind Anu didi was behaving a little rudely around Rajat bhaiya. He is so nice and always calls me a Princess, making me feel loved. He even helped me unpack some of my books and shoes because Anu didi had forbidden him to go near my wardrobe. She is so protective sometimes I tell you.

As for Devyani didi, she would be extra polite with Rajat bhaiya and taunt Neel bhaiya without missing a second. Only Alka didi was still sane and I feared that the company of my other two sisters would soon take its toll on her. When I sat myself down with my plate Minty aunty declared that she would take us shopping tomorrow as she did not want Anu didi and Alka didi to stick with their suits all the time.

"Mm, aunty this food is simply heaven." I licked my spoon and savored the flavor for a little longer.

She laughed and proudly stated. "Well it is my recipe and cooking, of course it will be the best."

"Beta ji, try not to boost her ego too much, it already is big enough." Sareen uncle chuckled making everyone laugh.

Minty aunty turned away and remarked "O ji please!"

"Aunty ji why not throw a celebratory party tonight. It would be nice to meet up new neighbors and that would also give us an excuse to shop for two days." Devyani didi rubbed her hands in anticipation and looked up hopefully at Minty aunty who seemed to be pleased with the suggestion made.

"Why not?!" she exclaimed "Rajat, Neel, go get things prepared for the barbeque party tonight. Sareen sahib, please drop me and the girls to the mall while Shastri ji can keep everything organized."

"Of course." Papa agreed.

"Great! Go get changed and be back within ten minutes." She clapped her hands and pushed us back upstairs.

I changed back into my white sundress with red roses as I pulled up my wavy hair in a high ponytail. Reapplying me gloss I waited for the rest of them downstairs. It was not long before Minty aunty arrived and my sisters grabbed their purses meeting us up outside where an SUV was ready to take us to the mall. I smiled as the cars flashed by, excited for tonight.

Okay one thing to clear up, I know the chapters are short and they take up only five pages in Microsoft Word. But then I am trying to give you faster updates. Trust me I take a week to update my books online because they have twenty pages long chapters but tell me if you need longer chapter or sooner updates?

I am still trying my best at Indian soaps and you guys encourage me a lot. So please keep on reviewing and replying it makes me feel good. Later, cupcakes!
