The Nach Baliye couples are basking in the glory of the show's success. With increased spending power and in an effort to keep up with the Joneses, people invite the celebrity couples to dance at their private functions, from engagements to weddings to birthdays. Another market open to them is the corporate world dos, where they add some glitz and glamour.
Rajeshwari Sachdev-Varun Badola, Manav Gohil-Shweta Kawatra, Tanaaz- Bakhtiyaar Irani have been invited to perform at various marriage ceremonies. For the couples, this translates into big moolah. While performing for institutions, they take only a token amount like Rs. 5000, for private functions the actors have been quoting anything between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 7 lakh per performance. According to sources, the amount can shoot up to a whopping Rs 50 lakh.The price for shaking a leg is not only big moolah, they also get to travel to exotic places with their spouses in India and abroad.

They have performed in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Says Manav, "We get lots of calls to perform at corporate events and weddings. It's a new fad. It all depends on their budget and the concept for the event. I love to dance and I get paid do dance, what more can I ask for? Not only do we get to travel and perform together, we also get some time together this way. I'd say that the money is not bad at all!" | Hussain Kuwajerwala-Tina
They have performed mostly in Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi. Says Tina, "I find it fun as I have never done this before, though I do get nervous before I go up on stage. At weddings the focus invariably shifts from the wedding couple on to us. Recently a couple approached us to perform at their 25th wedding anniversary; it was very humbling. They saw us as their ideal couple and wanted to see us perform. We generally perform to 'Bahon ke darmiyan' as it was a hit with people during NB2. We also take our choreographers along with us, so all four of us travel together. They have performed in Dubai, Hongkong, Delhi, Igatpuri, Dehradun, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Says Bakhtiyaar, "The event management companies get in touch with us. Only select couples are invited to perform at these events. Any money is good money and we are earning it through tremendous hard work. We were good in Nach Baliye2 so people want to see us dance whenever possible. We have performed at engagement ceremonies, wedding ceremonies, New Year nights, cruises on Valentine's Day, etc." | Rajeshwari Sachdev and Varun Badola
They have performed at schools, colleges and marriage ceremonies. They have performed in Delhi, Mumbai, Malaysia and various places abroad. Says Rajeshwari, "Performing at these events feels great; this is just how people want to see us, after the show. Since we have performed well on the show, of course the world will try to get the chance to see us dance in private too. Of course it is pretty lucrative. We all need an audience to honor our talent. Today marriages are organised professionally by event management companies and are no less than an entertainment night. Having said this, I'll add that we are selective about the kind of events we perform at." | |
