Done. I strongly feel it is the TRP in the last month of the show that has finally made media sit up and notice EHT. Because till then many sites had ignored EHT . But after the show's closure many articles are coming out.
I wanted to put out something here which I read in last week " The Week " special issue. There was an article on woman and cinema and they were telling year 2014 showed a change in cinema where there were quiet a lot movies which made money with female leads like Queen, Mary Kom, Finding Fanny etc and also leading ladies got meatier roles than just being a arm candy to the hero.
In the regional sector they told the biggest hit of Malayalam Industry in 2014 " Banglore Days" was scripted and directed by a woman. Anjali Menon.( Believe me it was a very refreshing movie with nice characterization for its female leads)
One of the key reasons they attribute for this change is the fact that today woman have their own money to watch movies and they are making choices on what to watch and what not to watch. So there is audience for new stories and a slow change is taking place.
Actually why I put about this article here was that, that article made me thinking on if the woman's decision to watch the movie they like with their own money is making the change in Indian Cinema what will change Indian TV.
Reason working woman can of course take a weekend out and watch a movie like Queen or Marykom but in her busy schedule watch a regular show well it is a difficult proposition.
I know quite a lot of my friends who loved EHT to watch repeat telecast or online as they were unable to watch it at 8pm due to various reasons. But unfortunately they will not add upto TRP audience.
Maybe TV will change when TRP system changes. When online viewing, repeat late night viewing etc.. is taken into account maybe the different stories will get their due. Current TRP system is very much biased to the woman who are handling a profession and home and her needs.
