The Morning After : Part One
Pragya opened her eyes slowly, her eyelids felt heavy and she could swear her head weighed more than her entire body. She slowly sat up and clutched her forehead.
"Maa! My head feels like it is going to burst!" She moaned.
As she looked around, her eyes widened as she realized she was sleeping on the bed, not in the balcony. She grew shocked as she saw her and Abhi's clothes scattered around the room. She grew more and more nervous as she took in the state of the room and the bed. Looking down at herself, she saw that she was wearing Abhi's shirt over her churidar pajama.
"Why am I wearing his shirt? Why am I on the bed? What is happening?!" She yelped in surprise.
She sat up quickly as she heard Abhi humming, she heard his footsteps as he approached the room.
Abhi walked in with a tray of breakfast complete with Pragya's favourite adrak wali chai (ginger tea). Seeing Pragya, he had a flashback of last night's events.
He had carried Pragya up to the room, had carried all her orders (including getting her gulab jamuns, and pretending to drive her to a disco) and played her find the moon game. Finally, frustrated with her, he drank alcohol too. But because he was used to it, he could remember the events of the previous night. When he saw Pragya's horrified expression, he smirked, knowing very well what she was thinking.
"Kal raat ko tumne mujhe itna pareshaan kiya tha Chashmish, ab meri baari! (Last night you troubled me so much Chashmish, not it's my turn)." Abhi thought to himself.
He set the tray down on the side table and sat across from Pragya on the bed.
"Good morning Chashmish." He smiled at her.
Pragya's eyes grew wide in surprise. Why was Abhi smiling at her?
"G-g-g-good morning." Pragya stuttered.
Abhi fought the urge to laugh. He reached out to Pragya and moved one fringe of her hair behind her ears. Coming closer to her, he whispered, "Why so much stuttering now? You didn't seem afraid at all last night."
Pragya head snapped up and she jerked away from him.
"K-k-k-kya matlab hai aapka? (What do you mean?)" She asked in a shaking voice.
"I have to explain this to you? Last night you seemed to know everything ..." He said huskily.
Pragya felt her heart beating so fast, she felt it would explode any second. Abhi smirked seeing that his plan was working.
"Arrey Chashmish, why are you blushing so much? After all, I'm your husband. It's not like we did anything wrong."
"I know ... you're just ... bothering me. We didn't do anything like that!" Pragya tried to be calm.
Abhi lifted her chin and brought his face closer to hers, until their lips were almost touching.
"Really? Then why are you on the bed instead of the balcony? Why are you wearing my shirt? And how do you explain the state of the room and the bed?" He grinned as he saw her face turn fifty different shades of red all at once.
"No! That's not possible! We didn't ... we couldn't have ..." Pragya couldn't believe it, was she so drunk that she had allowed Abhi to take her?
"Chashmish, why are you making such a big deal out of this? It's only natural. Look, you are a dutiful daughter-in-law, a great chachi, and a caring bhabhi ... all that was left was to be a good wife ... and you've taken the first step towards that." Abhi caressed Pragya's fingers as he spoke.
Pragya could feel the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Why didn't you stop me?" She whispered.
"How could I have stopped you? I was drunk too. And after all, I am a man. If you attack me such sexyness, how would I control myself?" He grinned.
"And anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought you were going to be a bheegi billi, you turned out to be a tigress!" He continued not noticing that she had started to cry.
He came closer to her and nuzzled her chin and cheeks with his nose.
"In fact, I think I could go for a second round. I could plan a trip for us to get away, just the two of us. We never really had a honeymoon did we?" He whispered seductively.
"Get. Away. From. Me." Pragya said through clenched teeth. She pushed Abhi away, and moved to other side of the bed.
Abhi staggered backwards, shocked, and looked up to see Pragya hugging her knees crying her eyes out.
"How could you Abhi? Aap mere saath aisa kaise kar sakte hain? (How could you do this to me?). Torturing me with games is one thing, but taking away the one thing that every girl holds close to her heart ... I wanted my first time to be special ... not with someone who is going to throw me out a couple of months later!" She cried.
Abhi's head snapped up. Shocked, Abhi realized he had gone too far.
