DDLJ and Baazigar track in Bhabhi

Model-turned-actor Tarun Khanna will soon be seen in Star's afternoon show Bhabhi. What is of consequence here is that his character has shades of Shah Rukh Khan's character in DDLJ and Baazigar.

In the serial, Tarun essays the role of Samar Kapoor who hails from Australia and travels all the way to India to pursue his wife, Rishika aka Poonam Joshi.

We asked Tarun about his role in the serial. "It is true that my character in this show is similar to that of SRK's in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The fast half of the movie follows the track which is quite similar to the movie. Samar and Rishika meet in Australia just as Raj meets Simran in Europe. They fall in love and then secretly get married."

That's where the similarity ends though because there was no marriage angle in the movie. Tarun continues, "Later Rishika comes to India to marry a guy of her parents' choice and I, in turn, follow her to India to win her back. My character, Samar, stays with her family but she is scared of revealing the truth to anyone. Just as SRK becomes a favourite with Kajol's family, similarly my character wins the favour of Rishika's entire family. The story takes a new turn when Samar's hidden motives are revealed to the lead actress of the serial, Suhana but he convinces her that he is in love with Rishika."

Samar adds, "Although it is not a lead role, I am enjoying playing it and find the current track interesting."

Are you involved in any other projects apart from Bhabhi? "There are a couple of serials which I might sign as NDTV is launching a new channel which will be known as NX, so lets see how it works out."

Tarun Khanna was last seen as Aditya Raitan in Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye, where he was again playing a negative character. So no wonder he looking for a change. "I will do a serial in which I will play a completely positive character next," he signs off.
