Dear CVs and SS forumwasis,
It has been long since I have written in this forum and the reason, short reason is that I have stopped watching the show. It has been nearly two weeks (probably more) that I haven't seen a single episode of SS and today I feel like writing down why I, my family and a few friends who used to watch this show gave up on it totally. This is strictly my POV and I'm writing this because I followed this show at one point and I want to explain to my friends (Divya, amfi, isle of capri, awida and many others )why.
My disinterest in the show started with the negative characters- Rajeev, Ashta, Nikki, Minty, Alkas FIL, karishma, her father. The negative characters outnumbered the positive ones. I am not against negative characters. I think we can all handle negative characters but having dozens of negative characters with truckloads of negativity is not my cup of tea.
I liked Minty's character in the beginning. Even when Minty was against Devyani, it was understandable but when she planned the engagement fiasco, I could relate to Minty as much as a human can relate to zombies. What mother does that to her own children? Even in the name of revenge the plot made as much sense as a two year olds scribbling. Secondly when Minty started with the whole I hate shastri sisters because they steal my thunder', I was like, "really woman, how old are you? 5???"
And despite of that I found myself near that damned idiot box exactly at 6:59 IST. And then came that Karishma and her dad's entry articles both being negative characters and the promo regarding the whole karishma blaming anu for the lost CD and I was like- screw it! I have better things to do in life I ignored that fact that Minty's character took such a downward drift, I ignored that till this day I couldn't figure out Ashta's real irritation towards Alka, I ignored the fact that for the SS, the solution for every problem is to take a video and for the negative character to delete it, I watched the show but when the karishma entry happened I couldn't relate to anything- the plot or the characters.
Oh yea Karishma was a spoiled brat who got everything she demanded for and she wanted Rajat and she fought ugly to get him yada yada yada. Rajat apparently loved Anu but when she was blamed he believed it. Mister if you loved her, really loved her, it should have taken more than finding a cd to convince you. And Anu is marrying someone who thinks you have stolen the cd such a good idea? I mean this would be the kind of marriage you would expect to see knocking the doors of divorce courts three years down the line.
I remember a serial I had seen, hamsafar by name. A Pakistani serial which has, till date, remained in my heart, intact and unforgotten. In that serial, the best friend (the vamp) of the hero who loves him and wrongs the female lead (with the help of supporting characters) blaming the heroine of adultery, causing the hero to leave the heroine. The heroine gives birth to a child alone and only contacts the hero for monetary help when the child is ill. In the end, it is shown how much the hero regrets but also that things would never really be the same. The vamp commits suicide after her plans failing so badly and not able to face life anymore. I could relate to the hero blaming heroine because the seed of doubt was planted by his mom. I could relate to the heroine because she didn't worship the ground the hero walked on and promptly got over him- almost. I could relate to the negative character too because she wasn't just someone who oozed poison because it would spice up the plotline. She had reasons , strong emotional reasons then mere spite.
Karishma whom Rajat had once rejected decides after two days of meeting him that she wants him back and that too to marry despite of knowing that he loves somebody else and goes ahead to break the marriage. How many people you know do that?? Karishma whose mother speaks of morals and sanskars , has a daughter with the morals of an alley cat? She acts as if she can unveil lies and judge people but couldn't she see that her husband is corrupt and her daughter is selfish? Cvs why aren't you people showing actors with consistent behavioural traits?
At the rate you are going, I wouldn't be surprised if you show Anu turning negative as the next major twist to the story because I guess too much positivity isn't good for health and it is necessary to show the characters affected by schizophrenia to make them believable, right?
I don't know if I am off SS or this is a mere hiatus till a sensible plot crops up but till the time I'm off this serial, good bye!!!
