Hola folks...

Here is a short weekend post for you...Saazbaaz...!!

You know right now the situation in Humsafars is that two brothers have fallen in love with the same girl...and the bigger brother is the one...who is backing off...because he thinks that the girl loves the younger one...Well...this reminded me of this scene from the movie Sabrina...where a similar situation is playing out...and Humphrey Bogart, who is the bigger brother...is having this conversation with. Audrey Hepburn who is the female lead...

The plot is set in very different places...this one...in the US and France...HS in India, with a Muslim family...but some of the emotions are very similar...of course the conversations are more straight forward...and there is not as much drama element...in this one...

What I find interesting...is that...the FL...is taking care of the elder brother...in this movie as well...(I saw it during the college days...had forgotten)... And that he is finding it difficult to imagine how he will live without her...

I absolutely love this movie and have always adored Audrey Hepburn. She was in a class all by herself.

Getting to the similarities - you nailed it with the older brother and "Sabrina" or "Arzoo" - the younger brother loved Sabrina only after she returned - from the ugly duckling to the swan - but David only loved what he thought Sabrina was - or the idea of her - he didn't know her - not like Linus did and Sabrina was stuck in a fantasy where the playboy was finally paying attention.

Zaki has the playboy thing down pat. David was a good guy in the end - will Zaki be? Or will he be gray and expose Sahir's marriage and break Arzoo's heart because she doesn't and won't ever love him? It's quite an interesting story . . .

Hi Indra...I knew I could count on you to be the one who likely saw the original Sabrina...and that you would comment! 😃 What a classic that was...right?

Zaki is very similar to David...a playboy...who actually believes he loves every girl he falls in love with so honestly...The trouble is ...he also falls out of love as easily...

Anything is possible in desi soaps to create stories and conspiracy plots after plots...so who knows I what they will do with Zaaki...but his character type is not the one to obsess over any one girl...his character type is to fall in love and out easily...If Arzoo...doesn't love him...I don't think someone like David will have a bone in his body...to obsess over that... He will react hard first...but soon he will be on to the next girl...😆I think eventually Zara...[ BTW...did you also see the next version of Sabrina with Harrison Ford, And. Julia Armand with Greg Kinnear, playing...David...what a perfect David he was...]

Plus we have enough negative characters in the show...Anam, KA, Zeenat...Sarfaraz, Rehman, his wife...I don't think there is any need to turn him negative...although all the hyena clan...yes I mean the whole cast of characters I just listed ...will try to play on his vulnerability...but I think he will stay good to Arzoo and a well wisher...the problem we may have is Saahir having difficulty accepting Arzoo and Zaki to be friendly ...as they trust each other a lot...while Sahir has yet to develop that kind of trusting relationship with Aarzoo...so he may continue to misunderstand and try to stay away from Arzoo after they are married...

Off topic...I remember in one of my trips to Paris...I had to go somewhere from my hotel walking early in the morning...and there was this restaurant...still not open...as it was too early...so the guy was cleaning up...and whistling this song...so beautifully...I will never forget that moment...There is something really romantic about Paris...

Hey Sush quiet a nice weekend post ...n I love the plot u have chosen for this Post ...it's indeed a love traingle ...with two bros having fallen for one girl ...and it's a concept been done to death in Hollywood as well as Bollywood ...to name a few Saajan, the 90s hit movie with the difference tht there Sanjay dutt was both physically n emotionally scarred ..makes for a good reference Here ...yeh Dillagi, another example with another rich spoilt khan falling for the "refined n reformed version of the FL " ...and many more ...but then again I am a sucker for old cliche Romance done with a finesse and HS makes up for tht ..minus the few issues 😆...which I will pass for today 😃

Sahir has always been shown as the one of the most mature n Undertanding person In the show who actually uses his brain to see n review n even analyze situation n things n people 😆

While the playboy zaki has again proved tht he is "as superficial as superficial can get""holding onto ARZOO ' 's makeover image ALL the time ..goes onto say a LOT about him n his thoughts ...for him outside beauty matters MORE or equally as much as the inner beauty ..

While sahir loves ARZOO for her spirit n her never say die attitude ...looks come secondary n LIFE has taught him that very well ...

ARZOO too on her part loves sahir n connects to his pain

It wud be interesting to watch how the relationships develop now ...

If you are a Sucker for romantic movies specially old classics, I highly recommend watching Sabrina both Audrey Hepburn's and later versions! Yeh Dillagi was fully based on that.

Yes, Zaki has the role of the frivolous playboy and his feelings are as such...although they have developed the friendship angle more in HS, as compared to other stories I have seen. The elder brother in Sabrina has much more depth as well...and feelings that are definitely not frivolous...Of course Sabrina chooses the elder brother in the movie...in the end...😃

Hey Sush ..ok will surely try Sabrina ...now tht u have recommended it specifically I will try n catch it over my NY n Xmas break 😃

U know in yeh Dillagi too saif eventually falls hard for Kajol but then Kajol was always into Akshay ..n it was quiet a likable movie ..n since I loved DDLJ I just automatically loved Kajol in YD...

Zaki has shown to have fallen hard for ARZOO n tht is wht bothers me a LIL cos when ARZOO will realize tht sahir was into Zeenat , she may not take it in a stride n zaki cud be an issue then ...though eventually we all know she will end up With sahir only 😆

Hi Sush..I have not watched this movie..but after your post..went back and looked up the story...yes..it's so similar to the current storyline. Will have to watch it soon 😊 . Have watched the Hindi copy though...thanks for sharing

Hindi copy... Yeh Dillagi was not bad...but you MUST watch the original both versions...did you see the clip in post 3?

Hi Sush,

What a lovely post. Sabrina is a classic and Audrey Hepburn is another. How in my younger days wanted to have her waif look but paratha filled cheeks can not compete😆

Two brothers and same girl it's a cliche but a realistic one and always the nicer brother goes for the sacrifice but as life tells us in the end nice guys do win.

Here in HS Sahir's sacrifice is what ? Getting Arzoo married to Zaki or himself marrying her...then question is, Is it a sacrifice since he has not acknowledged to Himself he is in love. He is in turmoil definitely due to so many things happening and unable to control them.

Sabrina had a purity to it HS is a daily soap😛 but Sahir's character sketch is pretty good and hopefully it does not get diluted. In my mind keeping the character, he expects Zaki to do the right thing and marry Arzoo, off course he hates the idea. Rehman and Sam have put him in quandry to what should happen deal or Arzoo. Zaki said no for Sam so it's Arzoo for him but then what about all these years of pain and Zeenat's promise and the factory burning video.

What happens when he gets to know Sam too is in family way.

It's decision time for Sahir which he has to take with half truths. What he does we have to wait and watch since no spoilers this weekend 😊 Suspense is on, good job cvs.

Another thought is if Sam gets to know that Zaki likes Arzoo and she is pregnant too ? Sahir has to take Arzoos hand in his so that father daughter huge drama can be avoided.

I do want a SaAz marriage but with a mind blowing twist

Haven't watched the movie sush . I am totally into desi Bollywood movies when it comes to romance . We have lot number of movies where both brothers fall for same girl .

Dillagi , chal mere bhai , yeh dillagi ...

Yeh dillagi was a good one and the characters resemble one brother who is serious and wise and the other one very flirting brother .
