OS - A queer encounter.
Stars danced over a moonless sky. Thick cascade of woods rustled as unwieldy winds ominously sent shivers and pricked like a sharp knife grazing the skin before piercing itself deep.
Rusty and old, a lone light flickered, casting its white shadiness over a silhouette, in the dark milieu. Velvety words transpired with frightening steadiness, in his low, husky voice, showing their authority.
"I love Shobha... "
He turned to stare at another being, those very eyes that used to shimmer and dance in joy at his presence, her lips conjuring a sweet, contagious smile that would make his heart skip a beat. All those wonderful moments...
"LIES! ALL ARE LIES! YOU ARE LYING VIKRAM! "
Every moment with her was a generous delusion, embracing him in a complex mesh of undecipherable perspective. Like a lone leaf, he drifted apart from his own self, floating away in a sway of melodious yet deceptive breeze of emotions.
Naive and deficient he felt, overlooking her undeniable attitude that easily blinded him to a point where hope and faith shattered into million pieces and feelings became an abysmal vagueness.
Every second, her appearance haunted, scared him, kept him awake. Those memories were a sweet poison, which in gradual time would obliterate any life left in him.
On a strange fateful instance, she was before him.
Convulsed and confused, his petrified mind had almost agreed to give a chance. Another opportunity to a menacing personality who mercilessly destroyed his innocent love. If it wasn't for a chance, he'd have never realised the ghoulish appearance of the woman he loved.
A face he had loved, stood before him. That very face adorned with deceit and grimace.
Seeing her affliction and exasperation of losing him again, he smirked.
"YOU STILL LOVE ME..! "
She was a witch in guise, cunningly manipulating his innocent heart, using it and discarding it away as a rag.
His eyes manifested indignation and annoyance for being a fool in comprehending his folly. His mind constantly conspired innumerable excuses to deny his own heart felt emotions and feelings. Straightforward and simple, stubborn yet loving, Shobha's presence he cared deeply for. Her opinions and talks mattered. Realisation dawned upon him late. But not too late to change. He actualized his elation, his perturbed heart awkwardly chasing after evident emotions he felt. Joy he witnessed when her smile brightened up his dull, unremarkable routines. His perception of perceiving everything that ever mattered to him, changed. Shobha was a channeling force, that regarded his strength to fight his own demons and emerge victorious.
She inched towards him, her eyes burning with a vengeance and hatred of their own.
Standstill, he stared with absolute passiveness. He cared no more of death, life had already killed him once aggressively.
Her thin long fingers rose tracing his jaw line. Her sudden touch sent shivers down his spine.
She whispered. "You still love me... "
"I don't. Accept it."
He chuckled, his voice reverberating in the chilly atmosphere.
Her crooked smile turned to a frown, as her hands closed over his neck slowly tightening their grip, her face turning into a mixture of rage and sadistic pleasure.
"THEN DIE! I murdered Abhay! Now, it's your turn! " she laughed in a shrilly tone." "You are an idiot Vikram! I used you, played with you, still you came back to me. This explains all. Better not disappoint me, again..! "
A flurry of emotions washed his rather inscrutable face. He explicitly knew his mistakes were huge. It was time to make amends.
"Who's disappointing whom? "
He smiled.
She glared with confusion.
In a swift moment, he yanked her hands off him and freed himself from her grasp.
"An opportunist like you deserves a better treatment."
He fleetingly gazed at the camera lens resting on the lamppost, before disappearing in the darkness.
