KKB is definitely an entertaining drama but what makes it so interesting are Tanu, Aliya and Mitali - these three really crack me up. I actually root for these guys as they are smart, confident and strong. They are not afraid to take a stand. That is the tragedy of Indian dramas and Indian society as a whole. Women who are tough and steadfast are considered vamps and up to no good. Pragya is what Indian society wants women to be - silent, weak, subservient, stuck in miserable marriages with the illusion that as long as you have the mangalsutra all will be well.
Come on people. Pragya can solve this situation by going home, getting a job and living her life with dignity. WHY is she in that house? Her previous excuse was Bulbul, then her mother and now what? She lives Abhi? What is there to love? He despises her. Moreover, he loves another person. The man is rude, demeaning - you name it and she stares at him with these love lorn eyes.

EK has NO storyline as long as Pragya takes a stand. The story is actually very paperthin - weak woman endures abuse in husband's house because she doesn't believe she has the power to take a stand. And, after enduring years of misery, husband will admire her in the end. WOW, that is so very creative. Give these writers and EK a round of applause.

I would admire Pragya if she stood up, walked out of the house and got her sister, Bulbul married to Purab. Then, go back to the university and get her job back and support her family. IF, she does this and then she embarks on a romance with Abhi, I'd stomach this show. I used to really like Pragya in the beginning - that's what attracted me to the show. I even put aside the fact she was staying with Abhi for the most silliest reason, but ever since she and her sister bullied Purab into marrying Aliya I have lost interest in her character and her romance with Abhi - it's not even funny any more and the chemistry is D-E-A-D.

I hope the writers can give this character a spine.

I do appreciate we are getting more of the evil three - its these three who make the show.

By the way, I wear glasses but I do not wear them all the time and please, someone put Pragya in a different style of shalvar suit - they all seem to be the same style but a different color - it's like a uniform - in fact all the characters appear to be in uniform - I guess that's easy for the dress and make-up artist team and really helps with the budget or the production team simply lacks creativity.

And apparently Sarla is fine - glad she is doing the right thing and taking her daughter of that house. I do blame her for the mess in the first place. I hope she stopped abusing Bulbul and Purab and gives them BOTH an apology for the way she treated them. BB needs to show Purab some respect and he needs to stop worshipping the ground these two walk on.

Enough of the rant. By the way, the contractor guy was cute - petty he ended up as potential rapist (recollect he tried to rape Bulbul).

And I am hanging in there as I really hope to see Aliya end up with Suresh - wonder if she is going to make her suffer when he finds out the is one of the main culprits behind the MMS.

OK folks...let us see what happens.

Bravo!👏 extremely well said! I couldn't have said this any better myself. While I'm not a fan of Aliya, Tanu and Mitali as I find it over the top and plain stupid when they hatch their hair brained schemes and they all fall flat for the most part, I do agree that stereotyping women needs to stop.

"Bad" women are defined by their western attire, louder makeup, bursting into english, and basically having a brain and using it - standing up for what they want (however crooked their reasoning) and going after it (however morally wrong)
"Good" women are defined by being meek, subservient, obedient, mute and a whole slew of regressive traits.

I too really liked Pragya's character at the beginning of the show - she was shown being a well educated, working women with self respect who didn't shy away from voicing her opinion ( anyone remember the pilot where she turned the tables on the groom's family) That Pragya I liked.

This Pragya aka Mrs Abhi Mehra - is a different person all together. Where is her tongue? WHY is she even in that house? What was the purpose of her giving Abhi divorce? Did she do that to be magnanimous? Was she expecting him to stop her and proclaim his undying love for her?

What is up with EK and hindi shows in general that idolize this mangalsutra - its a necklace for crying out loud, not magic - you can't expect that based on this necklace everything is going to work out.

The show has no story and it's getting ridiculously irritating to see Pragya crying buckets on a daily basis, please lady - stop with the victim sympathy card - take ownership for your actions - her family knows the truth - just leave already and get your life back together.

What I absolutely despise about Indian TV is that they show marriage as this end all be all - first Pragya's mother was turning the house upside down because Pragya wasn't getting married - WHY is that such a big deal!? It's not like she was out on the streets with no options - she was a well educated working woman, if she wants to or doesn't want to get married - it should be her choice.
Then once the girl gets married - marriage and husband and husband's family becomes her universe. WHY?! Why must serials show that once a girl gets married her identity before marriage is meaningless. Marriage should be a part of your life not the end all be all - IMO. I get that in Indian culture marriage is a big deal but even then on a national platform as such if we keep showing and reinforcing such regressive views - its not helping with society progressing.

Standing ovation to EK and crew for making a show out of a paper thin story line and minting money off it.

👏 Fabulous post!!! If she did divorce him why is she still living in the same house as him and agreeing to marry him? I am a couple of weeks behind but have a bit of an idea of what is going on with the show. I totally agree with your comments on how women are portrayed and how Pragya has changed. I also agree with you on the overemphasis on marriage in Indian dramas and the fixation with a mangalsutra as a solution to all problems. Abhi does not even love her but she thinks this mangalsutra will work some magic. I wish we could see some dramas where women stand up for what is right and leave these horrific marriages. Abuse does not have to be physical - ongoing mental torture is is horrible.

And why doesn't Abhi just ask her to leave? Tell her wants to marry Tanu and wants a divorce and then give her money and end it all? Dadi will get over it. The show is stuck and nothing creative is happening. Abhi-Pragya fans get excited with those boring eyelock scenes and get excited when he attempts to force himself on her.

You and I agree...a feeble story line and they are making a fortune and we are watching it. Boy, they do have us conned. 😕😆
