Socialized Health Care..? Good or Bad..?

I recently saw Michael Moore's masterpiece "Sicko".. i was rooted to the ground after watching some of the stories he showed of people who lost there loved ones due to Health Insurance problems..

He put to light how these Health Care giants have basically bought out the government into signing bills in there favor..! I never knew such things happened in America.. what amazed me more was that America is number 37 on the international health standards (something like that) and France is number one.. All the countries on the top notch list have socialized medicine which simply means tht the national government controls all the hospitals and pharmacys.. the citizens pay there share through taxes but can stay away from the astronomical fees of hospitals..

Living in America, i know how hard it is for some people to pay for hospitals visits.. and sometimes Healthcare companies give them the run around for months.. Hospital visits are by the worse.. long wait times especially in a croweded city like NY..

I remember in third grade i faked being sick in the school cuz i didnt wanna take my exam... the school called the ambulance and everything after that was history.. 😆.. my dad screamed at me when he saw the ambulance bill and the hospital of more than $1,000 dollars.. I promised my self never to do that again..

Do you guyz feel America should adapt socialized medicine like most of its allies.. countries like England, France, Canada and even Cuba have socialized medicine.. ! Moore showed satistics of people living longer and healthier in most of these countries than an average American..!

Are there any negative side to Socialized healthcare..?

perhaps India/England/France/Canada etc can do a lot of research work(raise their medication costs) and help socialize America's healthcare costs, something that Mr Moore doesnt say in his movie's 😉

Why drag India into this, even after spending peanuts over research work, govt. can't provide quality healthcare services for everyone. Govt. hospitals like AIIMS and such are mostly used by ministers, politicians and bureucrats and in other govt. hospitals two patients share one bed or sleep on the floor with the hospital's pet dogs and cats.😛

Anyway, it's not a bad idea to collect tax from the public and give free healthcare benefits in return, that way even the poorest of the poor will be assured of treatment when the need arises.

First of all , great point Vinit.😆

I have heard from my canadian co-workers that they have to wait for months for an important surgery. How is that different from insurance companies telling you if you are eligible or not.

In the USA, no one is denied treatment when you go into the emergency room. And no one is given preferential treatment there based on wheter you have insurance or not. They will kill you with the bills later but you will get the best treatment the hospital can offer. This is speaking from personal experience of getting my father and FIL to the emergency room with no or minimal insurance.

And if you are smart enough 😛you can work with social workers to get around those bills or get free sample or cheap (but quality) medication.

..Treatement isnt denied..but when it comes to major operations like a bone-marrow trasnplant.. most hospitals dont go ahead with the surgery without an "ok" from the health care provider.. Most of these surgeries need to be pre-proved.. co-payments and drug fees kill youuu when you dont have coverage..

..india doesnt have national health care systems.. In India if you are poor pray you dont get sick..!! Some doctors have false degrees and practice there methadologies on real people..

My baby cousin in India.. perfectly healthy went to a hospital for fever.. these doctors overdoesed on the IVs causing her death..

I think both India and America needs to work on there medical system..

We've govt. hospitals which give free service, but who ever can afford private hospitals, avoids them.
