Round 10 Judges Choice - Feedback Thread

Great work with the sigs Sweta and the banner Dolly!

Here are my comments:

Ashish - I am amazed at how low pitched you can go! Great range. Very tricky song to do without background music. Excellent performance!

Seema - Your voice as usual has a very soothing effect. The song needed more of a flow - for that more breath control is required. More romantic feel was also needed.

Lavanya - Very good effort. I think it was challenging for you technically, but you still did a good job. A little more sweetness was required.

Sindhu - As usual, you are technically very sound. However, you also had problems with breath control for this song and because of that it hampered the flow and feel of the song.

Raju - Wah! 👏 You nailed this song! Sab ki chutti kar di!

Sarita - Good work with the feel of the song, but the energy level was lacking. I think you tried really hard too and kept steady notes, which is creditable.

Btw, I just wanted to appreciate the contestants for their efforts and hard work. You guys have really been challenged by the judges this time - I felt it in each one of your performances.

Now my review. I'll give a general one. Sorry to say but I am somehow finding none to be at the same level of singing that they usually are. Emotion is lacking in almost every song. Even technically the ones in the top order are faltering. No idea why!!! You all have attempted tougher songs earlier. So what happened this time???? 😕 😕

I am doing it as I am asked but let me say that I am not the exppert of it. Please do forgive me if I say something wrong but I am saying how it felt to my ears. All did a good job 👏 but I am comparing with perfection so ....

anarvekar : Starting wan't that great but as song progressed catched it up… good effort ashish!!!

seemai : Voice is good but I felt like taking break too often.. so continuity is not there…I do not feel the feelings in it either. Seema I think you need more breath control.

Lava26 : Liked this one… good job lavanya…

Cindu : Good one!!! Good Job Sindhu!!! You had feel into it too.

AG : Good Job Aparna!!! You did do the justice with both voices and feel too. Felt like you stretched the voice too much in the end???

Mamtalokesh : I felt like this song is not suitable for her voice.. can't say much…

Tina59 : Good job vidya!!! Did well even when you have to go high notes, but felt lost laya littlebit in the end

Rana_368 : you have good voice… felt lost laya at places… but you have feel so good effort Raju!!!

Ethnos : I think you lost laya at many places initially but did better in later part with laya & feel too.. good try Sarita!!! (actually very good looking at your... wish you all the best sarita!!!)

Now that the number of contestants are managable, I could actually listen to all of them.

Aparna: Excellent attempt at a song which needs so much orchestration in order to get the full effect. I think you did a great job. I love your voice quality, which is the basic building block for a song.
Ashish: You kept your voice at a much lower pitch than usual, understandably because you knew you would need to go very high towards the end. This might rate as one of the most difficult Hindi songs ever made, and I must commend your effort. No point trying to analyse how you could have sung it better - just attempting this song well is a feat in itself!
Seema: Can't blame you for singing this song in a lower pitch than usual. God, how high can Lata go! Unfortunately when you sing this song at a lower pitch, the effect and spirit of the original song does not come through. So your singing sounded a bit mechanical.
Tina: Very well attempted. You managed to go to the high frequencies without sounding too shrieky. I like the voice quality.
Cindu: Good. You managed your sur very well. I only felt that you had infused a Carnatic style of singing and diction was not sounding good.
Lavanya: I think your voice sounded weak. The sweetness of the original song was also missing.
Mamta: Because of buffering problems, I could not hear the song.
