one thing about raj is that he has this sense of self - and a lot of pride in himself (granted it makes up for his mother not having any in him and his wife & kids rarely showing it) - so this whole jail episode makes me think that he'll be coming back all dark & a bit bitter. If he learns the truth that mithali is to blame - he might just leave her.
