I would call Poonam as a find of 2007, because as far available data she lives in slum and probably would not have got much exposer without SRGMP2007.

It has thrown out some dazzling singer performers like Raja, Amanat, Mussarat, Aneek .. . Of course every talent hunt each season , we will come across some participants of these standards.

Saregamapa 2007 or its predecessors were designed to find singing talents. It should not matter where the talent is found. Lotus grows in a dirty pond too.

Purely from singing perspective, Poonam, in my opinion is a real find. I agree with your choice but differ in outlook. Slum or mansions do not mean any thing for Goddes Saraswati. I would have had exactly same opinion even if she had come from a wealthy neighborhood.

Actually if we use your argument about the "find", then every singer except Anik Dhar and Abhijeet Kosambi are finds. The two I mentioned are already winners of Bengal Saregamapa and Maharashtra Saregamapa 2006. All the singers would have been rotting away in their respective neighborhood if they were not "found". Their field of success would have been limited to a very small geographical area.

I understood the subject matter of this thread as "find" in a musical sense. Please, do not take my opinion as personal attack.
