I think the biggest lament women have with movies is that the wife always ends up forgiving the husband for his errors of ways. It seems to give the message that it is OK to be douches because women will forgive you. We rarely see a woman divorce or leave her man and have a happy fulfilling life. We rarely see the men realizing that mistakes are not always easily fixed with apologies and some can haunt you for life.
I don't blame cinema completely though. Indian society didn't allow women such rights and freedoms. Even if people sympathized with the woman, leaving her husband, especially after he apologizes is still frowned upon.
I still think SSS is a good movie because it made a progressive and slightly feminist point within a regressive village setting in a still regressive Indian society at large. It could have been better, but attempt was in the right place. It isn't as blatantly sexist as Biwi No. 1 or Masti where the wives are so quick to forgive their husbands sexcapades.
I wonder how Indian audiences would digest a comedy about women becoming bored and having affairs
