The cumulative business in the first eleven months of the year is a little over 2300 crore compared to 2800 crore last year in 12 months. The release count has reached the 2013 number with one month to go.
The disastrous box office show in November means business will be down in 2014 and the last time this happened was in 2002 when business dropped 10% from 2001 which itself was not a good year but saved by two huge grossers Gadar and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
The industry has come a long way since the troubled times for a few years at the start of millennium especially since 2005 with solid growth almost every year but last year saw limited growth and this year will see no growth and does seem business is stagnating. PK has been seen in the industry and media as the film to go over 300 crore nett which will help to take 2014 close to the cumulative business in 2013 but 300 crore nett is a very big number and can happen but not something you predict or expect.
