Chapter 2
[Dil ka kehna, hum sab maane...dil na kisi ki maane
jaan di humne, jaan gaye sab... ek woh hi na jaane]
After dropping a sleepy Ruhi to her school, he set out for his office. It was a routine, he would drop Ruhi to school and then a driver would pick Ruhi up.
"Mihir, in my cabin" he said as he walked in his cabin while Mihir followed him without a word.
Mihir briefed him about the day's proceeding and was about to leave
"Wait" Raman said "I need you to do something for me"
"Sure bhai, what is it"
"I need you to give me a full report on my new neighbour" he said in a business-like tone
Mihir looked at him with shock
"What?" Raman asked "why are you looking at me like that?"
Mihir grinned a naughty grin "wow bhai I am so glad that you are interested in someone finally" he rubbed his hands together in happiness
"What-the-hell was that?" Raman asked with a half angry half amused voice "Don't get your hopes high baby, I just need to make sure they won't be a danger to Ruhi. And yes I need a report on both of them, specially the... the younger one, god she seemed so stupid, its almost suspicious. What if its Shagun who sent her here to kidnap Ruhi"
"oops my mistake, why do I even start dreaming. Kidnaping Ruhi isn't easy bhai, she has full time protection. And why would she rent the house if she wanted to do a kidnapping that takes only a few seconds? I don't think its fair to snoop into someone's life bhai"
"Shut up. Its about Ruhi's life. I can't believe that Mr Khurana rented out his flat without even asking me, I will sue him if they don't turn out well"
"Technically you can't sue him bhai" Mihir laughed as he left the cabin

Ishita had taken a day off to make her new house feel like home. She worked all day while Mihika went off to work. By evening she was dead tired, she decided to explore the garden-cum-park that was open for everybody in the society.
She made herself comfortable on a bench and watched the children play and there she saw Ruhi giggling and jumping. Ishita's heart warmed up at the sight. At that moment Ruhi looked at her, first with curiosity and then with a smile. She made her way to Ishita with her caretaker closely following her.
"Ishita Aunty? Hwww... you are for real" Ruhi said amazed
Ishita laughed and pulled her in her lap "yes Ruhi, I'm for real, I just shifted to this society"
"Really? I live here too, it will be awesome. I asked papa to take me to you but he said my teeth were fine and so I shouldn't be visiting you" Ruhi informed her, rolling her eyes to give it a dramatic effect
"Now you can meet me whenever you want to" Ishita said kissing Ruhi's plump cheeks and they both giggled together
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?"
They both looked up at the source of the angry shouting voice. Both the girls cringed frightened, each thinking that the anger was directed towards her
Ishita opened her mouth to say something
"Don't" he ordered "I'll deal with you later" he turned to Ruhi "Didn't I tell you not to come out of the house when I'm away?" Ruhi was on the verge of crying, Raman softened "Go home now" he indicated to the nanny who took her away
That had given Ishita enough time to compose herself. She decided not to ruin it by being intimidated again. He was going to be her life partner after all, she shouldn't be afraid of him. She should come across as his equal.
She looked up to see him stare right back at her.
"What were you doing with my daughter?" he asked
"I was laughing with her" she replied back "And I'm sorry I didn't know she was your daughter"
He was, for a moment stunned, he tried to remember if this was the same woman he saw in the morning
"Good, now that you know, stay away from her" he replied rudely and started to walk away
Ishita's mouth flew open "Excuse me... Who do you think I am? Your servant?" she said as she tried to keep in pace with him
"I would like to repeat; I don't care or want to know who you are, just mind your own business" he said
"I was minding my own business" she retorted
"My daughter isn't your business" he said with finality and moved away
She stood there "Yes she is, and you are my business too Mr. Sadu Bhalla" She smiled to herself.

"Ruhi what were you doing with that woman" he asked as calmly as possible
"who papa, Ishita Aunty?"
"Oh! Great so now you even know her name"
"ofcourse I know her name. You know her too."
"No I don't"
"ufff ho papa, she is the dentist you took me to last month, remember?"
"Dentist? Her?" he tried to absorb the information, that woman knew his daughter, and a month after meeting her; she's here in their society, too much to be a coincidence. His ever suspicious mind started to run a race. He decided to stay alert until he had solid proofs at hand.

Ishita sat in front of her mirror combing her hair softly as her mind wandered to Raman. Why was he so possessive of Ruhi? He was never like that. He was never afraid of losing and he always won, always. period. But one thing that hasn't changed is his poor judgement of character.
She smiled sadly as the doorbell rang announcing the arrival of her sister.
