Chapter 3

Yeh baat dil mein thi, naino ne bol di... Main hu teri... mai hu...mai hu teri]

"Mihu get the door please" Ishita said as she laid the dinner table.

"There is a parcel for you" Mihika said as she tried to open the well-sealed box.

"Give it here its personal" Ishita snatched the parcel away from her

"What is it? Let me see" Mihika demanded

But Ishita was too fast for her. She quickly rushed to her room and closed the door.

"Where is he? Where is he?...ummm... let's see" she murmured as she stood tiptoed in a corner of her balcony, her newly purchased binocular firmly glued to her eyes as she craned her neck to its maximum.

"Oh god please let the curtains fly a tad bit higher. Please please please... I'm this close to seeing him" She prayed.

*"Man, this girl makes crazy wishes" God thought "Okies, let me order wind to blow a little harder"*

In a blink her wish was fulfilled and she grinned ear-to-ear.

There he stood, by his closet, his back facing her. He slowly unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it out, his vest came out next. Her jaws dropped as she noticed where his hands went next.

She quickly closed her eyes "Ayyoo Murgan!! What is he doing? Can't he atleast use the bathroom? What if there are other girls staring at him right now like me?" She complained

After a while, she slowly opened one eye and peeked "Where did he disappear?" She had both her eyes wide open now and was looking here and there when she felt a tap on her shoulder "Wait a minute Mihu, I can't see anything" she pushed the hand away.

"Ahem" a voice coughed behind her "Looking for me?" Her heartbeats came to a halt and she slowly turned around

"What. The. Hell. Were. You. Doing. With. That. Binocular. Pointed. At. My. Window?" He spat each word at her as he hovered over her, her back against the balcony wall, his breath fanning her face.

"I... I? nothing..." she stammered "What are you doing in my house?"

"Look don't play that game with me. I know what you were doing"

"What?" she asked "You... You know?" she thought to herself ayyoo mugan, he know that I love him, what will I do now? What if he rejects me'

"I know that you thought it was Ruhi's room. You were trying to snoop on her. Weren't you? And you thought you will fool me" he smirked

She looked at him for 10 whole seconds "W.H.A.T?" she shouted, half relieved, half confused.

"Yes miss whatever, I know that Shagun sent you"

"What the hell, why would Shagun send me?" she asked exasperated

"To kidnap Ruhi, don't act smart, I know that, I just don't have the proof. Once I have the proof I'll put you behind the bar" he pointed his finger and challenged her

A smile escaped her lips as she folded her arms under her chest and accepted the challenge "We will see, bring the proofs first" she smirked at him

It angered him and he held her by both her shoulders "I will not leave you. Run away, you still have time" with these final words, he turned around and left.

"I won't run away from you this time. I'll not be a coward, I'll run after you and win you" she smiled.

"Arre Ruhi? What a surprise, how did your papa allow you to come here?" Ishita asked pleasantly surprised when she saw Ruhi at her clinic that afternoon

"No, Ishita Aunty, papa doesn't know that I'm here. I bribed the driver to bring me here" Ruhi whispered to her as if telling her a top secret

"Very bad, you shouldn't lie to your father" Ishita mildly chided her

"But I had to talk to you" ruhi complained "It's a girl to girl talk" she said in a business like tone

Ishita controlled her laugh "Accha? Is it that serious problem? Tell me what is it?"

"ummm... I heard you and papa fight last night" Ruhi said meekly

Ishita's cheek reddened "Ruhi you know its just a misunderstanding"

"I know Ishita Aunty. Papa is a fool. If you had actually come to kidnap me won't you already know where my room was? Papa gets so protective at times that he forgets to use common sense" Ruhi did a *facepalm*

Ishita looked on, shocked at the intelligence of the child. Little did she know the real shock was actually on its way.

"Do you love papa?" Ruhi asked suddenly, her expectant eyes questioning her

"WHAT?" Ishita's jaw dropped, her eyes widened "Ruhi what are you saying"

"Look Ishita Aunty, it will be our secret I promise, I won't tell anyone" Ruhi said, her eyes gleaming with a sudden joy.

"Yes" Ishita whispered, for once in her life she didn't pause to think.

"Yeeesss" Ruhi jumped off the tool and hugged Ishita tightly "So, can I call you mummy?"

The look on Ruhi's eyes broke Ishita, the little girl has such pain hidden in her "I'm sorry, but your father doesn't love me back Ruhi" Ishita felt horrible breaking the little girl's dream.

"That's not a problem" Ruhi put her finger under her chin, as if thinking deeply "we will do something to make him love you back"

Ishita smiled widely at that and picked Ruhi up "Accha meri dadima" and kissed her

"Accha meri Ishima" Ruhi yelled.

"Papa I don't want to eat that" Ruhi said as she pushed away the plate of freshly made Rajma Chawal

"But Ruhi, that's your favorite dish" Raman said distressed at the tauntrums that his daughter was throwing since evening.

"It was, not is, my tastes have changed" she said in a grownup manner "I want to eat Idli-sambar"

"What? But I don't know how to cook Idli-sambar beta"

"I can help you with that"

"you can?" Raman looked expectantly at Ruhi

"I mean I can help you by reminding you that our new neighbors are tamils" she finished her sentence with a smile

"so?" Raman asked

"offho papa, so you can learn from her" ruhi slapped her forehead with her palm

"No, noways am I going to learn from that girl"

"Fine then, I'll go to bed hungry" Ruhi faked some tears

"ok ok... I'll see if the elder one is available" with that he made a face and went to the door.

* Ruhi quickly picked up the phone "hello Ishima, he is coming. Over and out"*
