In my opinion sunil gaveskar was more fearless then sachin tenndulkar because he batted well without helmets even when helmets were introduced in front off many fast boqlwers like holding robert etc (The comparison is not that who is better it who is more brave)

On topic you cant compare batsmans of different era. In 70s or 80s most batsmans batted without helmet not only Gavaskar.

Would go with S.Gavaskar.
The precautions used in the early ages of cricket was minimal compared to now.
