Himesh-Vishal tiff over Mussharat
In Friday's episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, judges Vishal and Himesh had an argument over Mussharat's performance. Mussharat, who belongs to Himesh's Rock Gharana, won very few votes and Himesh was of the opinion that this had happened because his song selection was not suitable to his usual style. This is the second time on the show that Himesh advised Mussharat not to experiment with his singing, if he wants to stay in the competition till the end.
Composer Vishal, on the other hand, differed in his views and said: "Whenever Mussharat comes to perform, the question of his versatility is raised. On many occasions, he has gone against the advice of Himesh and has tried his hand at singing different kinds of songs. With every performance, he has proved his versatility. The controversy was not about Mussharat at all. His last two performances were just not good."
"I do not want to contradict Himesh. He is right in his own way. But my point is that an artist remains incomplete if he does not explore his full range. There is nothing wrong in experimenting. But unfortunately, our opinions differ and there is no solution to it. It ultimately depends upon the decision of the public, which we all have to honour."
"The final winner will be chosen on the basis of how he decides to showcase his talent. If he is a versatile singer, and the audience likes him, then I will win the argument, if not then Himesh will. Further, I will learn something out of it that is for sure. It is not a question of life and death. Our music is different because we all have different opinions. I consider Himesh my good friend and hope that he considers me a friend too. My best wishes are always there with him. I have a great respect for him."
"It is true that Himesh gives tips to all the contestants for their benefit and to an extent I respect Himesh's viewpoint that if a singer has a particular style of singing then he should sing in that style only. But on this show, what we are looking for is a versatile singer, an all rounder."
"Himesh himself has tried different types of songs. He is a versatile composer. Every artist should explore his or her range. It is true that Mussharat sings Sufi songs wonderfully. But doesn't Himesh understand that we are hunting for a versatile singer on this show? That I really do not know."
"When Mussharat sings low notes his sur wavers a bit so he'll have to work on that. I will not give him any philosophical advice because whenever any mentor tells him to do something he immediately follows that. Whenever a singer feels pressurized, his performance tends to suffer. Mussharat so far has improved himself a lot. My advice to every contestant is that they should show us what kind of range they can touch by trying out different type of songs, sung on the right sur-tal and within the context. Amanat, Raja, Anik, Junaid Harpreet and Poonam, they all are fine singers."
In the last episode, Nirupama Dey of Himesh's Rock gharana was eliminated and Himesh promised her that he will definitely sing a song with her in his next project.

Stuff audiences missed out on Salman's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa episode
Audiences must have enjoyed the unlimited dhamaal Salman created in the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa episode Salman Special episode, but much of it was edited out. We were present on the sets of that episode's shoot and were surprised by what we saw on television. This show was shown live to all the present Sa Re Ga Ma Pa judges and contestants at a party hosted in a suburban Mumbai hotel to celebrate the show's success.
Salman and Himesh had come face to face for the first time after their rift and during the show's shoot. Salman was leaving not a single chance to target the singer-musician turned actor. Though he appreciated Himesh's Rock Gharana contestants singing talent but he gave none of them full 10 marks but when it came to contestants from other judges that's Bappi Lahiri, Vishal-Shekhar and Ismail Darbar's gharana's he was more generous. This prompted Himesh to sarcastically comment on the show when he also started giving these very same contestants 10 out 10 and was asked by show host Aditya why is he giving all full marks. The nasal twang singer had shot back, " Aaj to Salman bhai show pe aye hai to sabko 10 out of 10 hi milne wale hai!" Salman's leg pulling of Himesh about his nasal twang was edited out. Himesh pleading to Salman after repeated nasty comments on him to say something good about him finally was also not shown.
Salman's wicked remark on his partner co-star Lara Dutt, who had accompanied him on the show was chopped off too. After Bappi da's Josh gharana singer Abhijit Kosambi sang Salman-Priyanka Chopra starrer film, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi song, Aaja Soniye, Lara expressed her displeasure over his selection of this song. Salman had then promptly replied, " Yeh gaana Priyanka Chopra ka hai isliye Lara ji ko pasand nahi aaya!" This was his hinting at the two ex-miss India's cold war. His unexpected comment had left Lara speechless.
One of Himesh's contestants, Mussarat from Lahore , before rendering his song, spoke to Salman about his identification with Salman's character in the tragic love story, Tere Naam (2003). Salman had then explained to him that one should not take reel things seriously and that one should always forget ones past, especially when it comes to matters of the heart and look ahead in life.
On the show, Salman had also suggested Bappi Lahiri to join films as an actor taking a cue from musician-singer, Adnan Sami. He had said, " Adnan Sami ne apne andar se ek Bappi Lahiri nikaal diya aur patla hogaya abhi aap bhi kuch karo bappi da."
Our unit sources tell us, "The judges of the show carry some respect with them, and in regards to them, few of Salman's antics were not in the right spirit. So they had to be edited out. None of the judges tried to interfere in getting it chopped out."
