Well they do Severus. In 2011 or 2012 NDTv filed case against the television rating company . Like any other industry television industry is also monopolistic in nature. At the end of the day every channel wants good ratings because good ratings means good business.

You say you already know about the 7000 TAM meters in India. These 7000 familieswill decide if you love TMKOC or EHT or any other show. Firstly considering we belong to a diverse country 7000 to 8000 is way too less to decide what the whole population is watching.. On the top of it officials here influence these families with exclusive gifts. Now if a channel offices or a producer manages to control at least 50 households in the metros they can easily increase their ratings. Increased ratings means more money for advertisements. Spending a little on these handful of families is not a big deal for those who have high profit margin.

Public forum par itna hi😆 Did you watch Bheja Fry 2? Its all about manipulation of the Tv world.

Why? Public forum par itna hi kyun? Do you have some insider info? Please share na.
Of course I don't agree with the 7000 TAM meters. ANd plus when these set top boxes were made mandatory, I thought the media had also said that they could monitor what every household was watching. Now that the government and hackers can even monitor what we do on the internet, I am sure with these boxes at least they could have a larger sample size at the very least.

I asked this earlier on the CC too but I guess you didn't see my response. You know the BBC always states that 4 million people watched a particular episode of a particular show and then they gauge how well that show is doing from there.
It's only in India that we hear about these TRPS.

I wouldn't mind having one of those TAM meters lol. We hardly ever watch any of that saas bahu stupidity.
Plus it says that TAM meters are installed in different towns of the country. Of course the people in the metros are more cosmopolitan while in the smaller towns there would majorly be a preference for perhaps more regressive content.
I feel the advertisers are being taken for a ride.
They should be the ones to put their foot down.

I too find it hard to believe that a serial like SNS where even the loyal viewers are demanding that the show be shut down, could still garner such high TRPs.

And how come the other channels don't revolt against the one channel that apparently is no.1

set top box assures how many families are consumers so that local cable wallah cannot evade tax.
internet is a wider medium. You can access many illegal and dangerous content here. Tv is already a regulated medium so tracking what you are watching is not required.
Bheja fry shows how talent hunts are pre decided, how profit oriented tv has become and also the hypocrisy of the tv world.

Monitoring what we do on the internet is done for espionage and internal security purposes. Not exactly for censoring the internet although they do that too in China.

Is that why Sundar ran away from there to help his friend. Maybe Sundar and Daya don't even have a mother. Maybe they just made her up.
Their psychological issues would then run far deeper than Norman Bates. 😆

exactly so. Basically authorities eont care much what you do online but in case they need the details they will track each cent of your net surfing. Thus the mpnitoring.

Technology of tracking all DTHs in country exists but it's unknown why TRP agencies don't use them.
